Recently GE updated the C by GE app for iOS. Firmware was also updated for devices. I use the C by GE products with HomeKit via the C-reach hub. This update has fixed all issues, but required me to delete and recreate my setup to get everything working. Before deleting and recreating my setup everything was sort of half working. Afterward all devices respond instantly... everything works nicely with HomeKit. The smart plugs are easy to set up... I also use the full color bulbs and the C by GE dimmer switches. All devices now have solid communication through the C-reach hub and HomeKit functions are good. The only problem at the moment has to do with the way the bulbs when used with HomeKit handle color... not as bright and sharp as in the C by GE app. Not sure if this is a HomeKit issue exactly, but it seems to be a problem experienced when using bulbs from other manufacturers as well... perhaps a future update will straighten this out... for now it isn’t a big deal. I just set the bulbs to the color I want in the C by GE app and just use HomeKit to turn them on and off, maintaining the color stored as the last used by each bulb. I was worried when I first tried this platform by GE, but I am happy now and I will stick with it... it suits my needs for a more reasonable price than other options. Read more

I installed several C by GE lights a year or so ago and connected them to Google Home which worked fine... for a while. Then one day.... they stopped connecting for more than a day or so before getting lost. Read you needed a C by GE device which acts as a bridge. (Why this suddenly became a requirement? who knows..) Anyway after resetting the lights and connecting them to the C by GE (Cync) App and moving them back to google home, I have had no issues. Read more

The box boasted the motion detector works great with Amazon's Alexa and Google Home. It doesn't. In fact, their Tech Support will admit to that. But the box says otherwise. So, I figured I need a hub to link this thing to my vast Alexa/Google-friendly network. I get a GE plug device that says it's also a hub! It's not! Oh the device works great with the GE app, as does the motion detector. The bulb or plug works with Amazon's Alexa just fine. The motion detector is almost invisible without the vendor's specific app, BUT, whatever group you put it in, it will control the ON/OFF of those devices. It was hard to figure out, and not until I spoke with their Tech Support did it begin to make sense. For turning the lights on in my bedroom closet, or kitchen pantry, this sensor works great! BUT ... I like to "see" these devices on my Alexa app. It won't happen with this one. Read more

What I like about them they're small compact I replaced all my wemo plugs with these. When will plugs compared to these well let's just say they work way better. Wemo smart plugs have a tendency to go offline they don't update they don't show up they don't respond. These GE smart plugs work fabulous. I'm very pleased with the product they don't go offline and do all the crazy stuff that WeMo smart plug did. I would not recommend wemo smart plugs. I have older versions and newer versions and they still suck. Set up as a breeze compared to the wemo. so if you're looking for a simple to use easy to set up I would definitely get the GE smart plug. I've had a couple other off-brand smart plugs they just don't work that great. I have a Google ecosystem in my home I do have Alexa but I mainly only use Google products. Or products that are native to Google home. The GE the lineup is definitely more native to Google. You're able to set up these plugs in the Google home app but I set them up in the GE app but the automatically go into your Google home. So in the past month I will have bought eight of these. I just recently purchased their smart light color I'm very pleased with that as well. I have bought in about nine of those light strips. I am fully invested into the Philips hue as well. My whole home is covered in smart home lights and honestly I think for the money GE has just as good lights as Phillips. But this isn't about the lights this is about the smart plug I would definitely recommend GE smart products any day. Read more

Not sure why I haven’t bought one of these sooner. They are fantastic and easy to set up with Amazon Alexa. Read more

I hope who ever buys this is very good with electronics before they purchase or they will have to do a lot of research unless they get lucky with their router. I have my lights and smartplugs connected to my c-reach but the app can never connect and even after i unplug it and replug it in, it will still not connect in the app but will connect through voice command but only for a few hours. I have tried to contact customer support but their main advice is to contact my router manufacturer and have them fix the issue because it requires my 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks to have separate passwords in order to connect. This doesn’t seem designed for the average user to install, unless they are fortunate enough to have the perfect router. Unfortunately, the much more expensive philips hue bridge is far more reliable with it being directly connected to the router with an ethernet cable, so if you are having difficulties like me, consider checking into their lights and belkins wemo smart plug. I spent almost 2 days to setup this unit. I could run it to the c by ge app but not Alexa I must have tried at least 5 times to get it to work. Finally on the second day It finally decided to work. The reason I purchased this was a friend gave me a color changing led bulb, so in order to get it to work I had to purchase this ge plug which is basically a hub. I would definitely not purchase this. I would say that after I finally did get it to work, but there is other and better ways to accomplish this. On a note is you are using the google system instead of alexa I understand It sets up muvh better Read more
