there are three ways to wire this and it's easy enough once you determine the wiring pattern. i had to look up the wiring diagram for how to wire the switch to control the outlet (i.e. no hardwired load). you can also have the outlet always on and the switch controls another load (e.g. light), which is perhaps the more common use. there's also some other way of wiring by breaking the hot terminal bridge but i didn't read that far. i'm happy with the outlet, it seems well made. My remote for the the garage door opener (139.53960SRT, RED learning) does not working any more and there is no replacement unit. Tried a universal remote, same results. It appears the learning function no longer works. I purchased the Woodguilin Wireless Control Switch to solve my problem, and it did. The attaced photo shows the installation. Spent a lot of time researching for the correct installation instructions. Pigtail two wires (red & white) to the garage door opener wall switch that are connected to the Controller switch, white to com and red to no. I use a power adapter 120vAC to 12vDC, 1.5A to power the Controller's input port. To pair the Controller, push button 20 times quickly. Then press the button one time and wait a few seconds then press the remote button once. The Controller and remote should be paired. If they are not, repeat the process. Try to open/close the garage door and it worked. I used low volt staples (Garner Bender MSB-1540) to tack down the wiring. Read more

Easy to install as a replacement for a double outlet, but I needed a switch for an outdoor security light. The switch and outlet are separate, although you can combine to make the switch operate the outlet. Installation by a professional electrician is recommended, unless you’ve done this kind of thing before. Read more
