We bought these bulbs, over three (3) years ago, they paid for themselves, by year two! Here is our story. We stumbled across these, years ago, when glancing inside a new refrigerator, that had them. The benefits? Bright, clean, and modern. We liked that. The down-side? Expensive. The bright-side? Your energy savings add-up, every time you open that fridge, day after day, after day, like compound interest, which is one of the greatest secrets of saving money, we like that. Okay, here is our situation. We live in an area with ridiculously expensive electricity costs, we have been averaging about (35) cents a kilowatt, yes, you read that correctly, (35) cents a kilowatt [at this very moment, we are paying [41] cents a kilowatt. So here is what happened, our incandescents started burning-out. We have four on the refrigerator side, alone. lets do simple math. We bought replacements and paid ($7.44) each back then. But let's say the bulbs cost ($9) each. So four (4) bulbs cost ($36). We estimate, at minimum, our family has that fridge open an hour a day. Okay, so four (4) x (40) watts (incandescent) = (160) watts a day usage. Multiply (365) days x (160) watts a day = (58+) kilowatts a year. So now we take those (58) kilowatts of electricity used, over the year, and multiply our cost per kilowatt, that is (35) cents = about ($20) a year in electricity costs a year. Now, these LED bulbs use only about (10%) the power. So our cost, using the LED bulbs, a year, is not ($20) but ($2) a year. That is an ($18) a year SAVINGS. So by year two (2) the electricity savings paid for these bulbs. We just finished year three (3), entering year four (4). The bulbs are running perfectly. So, the moral of the story is that for the long-run, buy these bulbs to save money and add a clean, bright (we like the color), and modern look to your fridge. (Your breakeven savings will differ, based on your costs for the bulbs and electricity. Oh by the way, we sold the incandescents on an auction site, to help recover our costs; and, be careful when touching an incandescent, they burn your fingers, the LED DO NOT! *If you found my review helpful, please let Amazon know by clicking the helpful button below! It's only been one day, but I really like these refrigerator/freezer bulbs. They give off a nice bright white light with very little of the 'blue' tint that many Daylight LED bulbs have.. and they give off almost NO heat whatsoever. They are just slightly larger in than an incandescent A15 appliance bulb, but I didn't have any problems fitting them within the plastic light cover in my Kenmore Trio fridge. The drawback... they are expensive!! In fact, I almost went with a cheaper LED appliance-sized bulb, but I decided not to take the chance since they would be used in a damp environment. Right now, these GE bulbs appear to be one of a very few LED bulbs that are specifically rated for use in a refrigerator/freezer, which obviously allows them to charge more. Hopefully the price will come down as more brands start offering this type of LED bulb. Assuming they actually live up to their life expectancy, they will be worth the cost. I'm actually getting ready to order another one to replace the bulb in my freezer too. Read more

I did order other LED's light bulb's from a different manufacturer for my refrigerator and freezer but had to send them back because one light bulb didn't work. I did try the one working light bulb in my freezer but it did not fit in the freezer socket. I decided to try these GE refrigerator and freezer light bulbs. I do have a older GE side by side refrigerator and was happy that the bulbs not only worked in the refrigerator but also the freezer. They are a clear light bulb instead of being frosted and they leave off a lot of light. Instead of using 100's watts of electricity for the refrigerator and freezer, I am now only using 4.5 watts each for the refrigerator & freezer. Now don't have to yell at the grand kids anymore for not shutting the refrigerator door. I have replaced all my incandescent & CFL's lights bulbs on the inside and outside of my house with LED's. They might be expensive but worth saving on electricity bills in the Winter months of New England. Read more

We have a Refrigerator Freezer that is not really old but can look very dated next to the high tech newer models. I never though much about it until a friend got their new Refrigerator with nice bright white LEDs; the Refrigerator felt much more clean and sanitary. Couple that with me grabbing something out of the fridge and hitting the current incandescent with the back of my hands and I was surprised at how hot they were. So decided to look for LED replacements and found these and they have worked great. The fridge is bright and I'm able to see so much more. Freezer which was really dark only having one bulb is now bright and easy to find food at a glance. Over all three of these bulb have made our Refrigerator and Freezer feel much newer and much easier to see the items inside. Well worth the purchase. Read more

Bought one, and it made a difference in the freezer and fridge - brighter and cooler light. Then to replace the other 2 in the fridge being warmer colored incandescent. But Amazon misstocked the warehouse so on if the 2 was a non freezer GE bulb . Returned that as “wrong item” and the replacement - again wrong. So Amazon has the wrong item in the warehouse bin and no way to address it easily. Ugh. Read more
