I have 4 digital thermometers for my fridges and am not too happy with one of the digital ones - the one with a wireless display that can be outside the fridge. However the other one is battery (2032) operated and is pretty accurate, but one has to open the fridge to see the temperature. This one is very dependable and is analog. The product description says "Base allows to stand or hang from rack." This is incorrect. I just purchased this Good Cook thermometer on here last week, and the product I received is different than the one pictured. They must have changed to a newer model and forgot to update the picture and description. The product I received did not come with a hook to hang it from a wire rack. It's just flat on top (see photo for what I received). I purchased this for my freezer to hang from a wire rack, but I can't do that. Worse, when I stand it on it's base, the base is narrow and it keeps falling over every time put stuff in or take stuff out of the freezer from the slightest vibration. That being said, I purchased two different model thermometers at the same time (one for each freezer), and they both read at the same temperature so I think this one is reasonably accurate. They are both +3 degrees higher than the temperature on my primary fridge panel, and 4 degrees lower than the temperature on my secondary freezer unit. Part of the reason I bought these is because I've been having problems with either milk going bad before the expiration date, and ice cream going soft, on my primary fridge/freezer, that or vegetables and fruits freezing when I make it colder, so I think my fridge thermostat is off. One downside on this thermometer is that the temperature pointer is pretty thick, so it can be hard to see the precise temperature from just a glance. This could be remedied with a thinner pointer (e.g., see photo of this thermometer next to the other one I purchased). Read more

I thought the ‘good cook’ was the top of the line for home refrigerator/freezer thermostats. I have an older version that works great. These newer ones I am reviewing are half the size and the dial spins and does not stay stable. Also the stand is short and falls over. The original one I have is perfect and hoped that the good cook kept its quality. The temperature readings are hard to gage if accurate since they don’t match with my original one. I purchased 2.
