Good, beautiful, but...

Eric the Inadequateβ€”May 14, 2024

The media could not be loaded. Thoughts: My daughter and I have been using this Keyboard for the last few weeks and one of us likes it more than the other. This is a nice-looking wired keyboard that works great with no issues. It is smaller than a 104-key keyboard, offering 68 keys, which is great for a gaming keyboard, and does all the typing needs using the FN key. It comes with red switches that are not too clicky, more on this later, and the travel of the keys feels a bit longer than I am used to. The print quality of the design is very good, and this Keyboard can also be displayed as a piece on its own. The RGB has approximately 18 modes, 7 static colors, and a multi-level brightness to choose from. The LED colors come through the keycaps so that the numbers and letters are visible. There are 2 height adjustments, and the keyboard is decently weighted and has rubber pads to help keep it in place so it does not slide around on the desk. Back to the clickiness, while the keyboard feels good and the travel is decent, maybe a little long for me but perfect for someone else; case in point, my daughter likes the keyboard and sound. I personally would swap out the switches as they sound springy and hollow, creating this sound that, to me, makes the keyboard sound cheap; I have attached a video. Maybe you can hear what I hear. Again, this is a personal sound issue, as some people may like this sound, and the keyboard is of good design. Since it is a personal issue and it did not personally impact my work or game flow, I can't fault the keyboard. However, I think that the keyboard should be priced a tad bit lower compared to others on the market. Overall, my daughter likes the keyboard, and since it works perfectly, she has now taken possession and uses it everyday for all her gaming and typing needs. Includes: USB-A to USB-C shielded cable 3 additional keycaps for "Enter, Escape, and space bar. a Keycap remover and an owner's manual showing all the functions the keyboard has. Read more

Yeesh

Andyβ€”April 30, 2024

This wouldn't be a bad keyboard if it were priced $10 lower. There's no indication anywhere if it's hot-swappable. I might open it up eventually to check but I'm not sure it's even worth it. The Outemu switches it comes with are..... well.... Outemu switches lol. they're scratchy and unpleasant. However, since this is a very budget keyboard, I wasn't expecting any other kind of switch. My main issue with it is the horrible hollow sounds coming from the case. It feels like a toy keyboard :\ The keycaps are standard budget feel but are actually very nicely designed. I love the colors and design elements. I'm rating this 4 stars because I'm seeing it as a $25 set of keycaps with a keyboard that is worth $15 Read more

Great value budget 65% layout keyboard with nice keycap options

Cruel Ironyβ€”April 13, 2024

This iRoboosta (Surmen) keyboard is a great value budget option. For about the same price as what you would pay for a set of Matcha keycaps, you also get a keyboard thrown in for free. Granted, it's still a budget keyboard, but that's still a great value proposition. Starting with the positives of this set - the keycaps are nice and thick, I measured the nominal wall thickness as the base of the keys between 1.37 - 1.60 mm. There are a nice variety of colors and styles to choose from - at this price you might even consider picking up more than one. The Matcha set includes some specialty keycaps as well so you can customize to your liking. The north facing LED backlights are nice and bright and come with the usual variety of preset patterns built in. Some of the function key combinations are different than other keyboards, but all the functionality is still there. The red Outemu switches are just what you'd expect from red Outemu switches - nothing to write home about, but they work as expected. The stabilizers are lubed and are firmly mounted to the metal switch plate. There's not much flex to the board when typing and the keyboard is very rigid despite it being a plastic case. The build quality feels surprisingly good. The sound of the keys is a little subdued; I wouldn't classify it as either thocky or clacky, but rather muted. I noted some spring ping on several keys - but these are things that you can address with your own modifications. Again, it's hard to be too critical of this keyboard given it's budget price. This is a great keyboard to pick up if you'd like to experiment with modifications The kit includes a USB cable, switch/keycap puller, extra keycaps and a user guide. Highly recommended and it won't break the bank. Read more

Good budget keyboard

Timothy Phoenixβ€”September 24, 2024

The media could not be loaded. I would definitely start off with a keyboard like this if I wanted to try keyboard modification on a budget. This keyboard already has a nice rising sun with mountains motif straight out of the box. A few more custom keycaps and/or some different switches then a customized keyboard for not a lot can be had by anyone wanting one. This keyboard is has a small profile at 65% making it good an easy to transport to LAN parties or to a coffee shops with a laptop. The upper and bottom decks are made of plastic but the keyboard still feel solid and durable. There is a USB-A to USB-C cable for connecting to a PC. There isn't any 2.4 or Bluetooth options with this model. Plus there are some extra keycaps if the decorated keycaps are not wanted. The LED setup is RGB with several light patterns and lighting options. The typing is smooth and quiet in the mid-strokes with the linear Red Switches. The only sounds are at the bottom of the key strokes and at the key release. All-in-all it's a good budget mind keyboard, just in general, with some additional flair. But where I think this keyboard shines is in its ability to be changed and upgraded as the user continues on with it. A great base model for learning how to tinker with keyboards or just to have as-is. 5 Stars. Read more
