I bought the 1/2" version of this product and it worked great on the greenhouse/cold frames we have that are made with the 1/2" EMT conduit (OD is .706"). I also clipped our materials to the T-posts that support our EMT frame, this size won't open all the way around the T-post, but I clipped onto one of the protrusions. It will accommodate several layers of material, in our case we have poly-spun frost blanket covered with 4mil sheet plastic, and in some places had several folds of the plastic (at the corners). The clips open capaciously and the ends don't have to touch together in order to completely tightly grip whatever you put this on. The clips are made of what feel like high quality, thick ABS plastic, and the spring is thick and tight. You have to apply some muscle to open the clamp, but it's not brutal. I'm utterly thrilled with this product. The edges are smooth and I had no issues with them poking through either material. I've gone out and rearranged the clips while it was sunny to ventilate, then closed it all back up tight in later afternoon. Absolutely no issues, works wonderfully well. I plan to order more of these, and also order them in the larger size to have on hand. Versatile clip! I've used a couple of other products made for this type of application-- both the stainless-steel all metal clips and the clamps that are ABS plastic, about 4" long, and press on/pull off, both of which have problems (the metal tears material, and the press on clamps are hard to get on and off and actually can pop off in high winds, and they are pricey). The press-on type are good if you want to layer clips (because they are completely flat), and I used some of mine on the inner layers near the doorway opening to keep everything tight. But, these clips will be my first-line go-to for this function from here on out, and at this price point they are a no-brainer. These clips are fantastic and have helped me save my lettuces and greens through the 2024 arctic blast. I don't know how many seasons they'll last, but they have a good strong feel. Read more

Iβve used these for an entire gardening season and couldnβt be happier with their quality and performance. I bought 8 orders (240 clips) in green. Early in the season I used them in freezing weather to hold plastic onto my 1/2β conduit hoops. As the weather warmed I transitioned to Agribon floating row covers. As the warm weather arrived I switched over to insect netting. The clips stood up to all the weather changes, wind and handling. Out of the 240 clips, maybe 10 of them failed - always where the hinge pin passes through the plastic. I believe it is because the tensioning spring is so strong that it keeps heavy pressure on the hinge pin, even when it is closed. Still, that is less than a 3% failure rate so as an engineer I couldnβt be happier. These are great and I wonβt hesitate to buy more in the future. I highly recommend them. Read more

These clamps are good in theory. They fit well, are generally smooth enough on the edges to prevent tearing of material, and are easy to operate. HOWEVER there is a design flaw... the barrels that hold the spring in place are weak. In just the first season, I have lost a third of my order due to the barrels cracking under the strain of the spring. I have found pieces of the clamps scattered around my raised beds in the morning... and on windy days, the least bit of fabric flutter can put enough strain to crack the hinge. Cracking/failure can also occur in the process of squeezing the clamp open. I'd really like the designers to consider beefing up the barrels to make a stronger, more reliable product. Read more
