This is fantastic for the price, and harder to find in the days of polyester cheap layers for beds. I hate overheating, and the sound of a cheap poly bedding is yuck! We have extra deep depth twin xl adjustable beds set together. California king fits best in this situation. Both mattresses have covers and protection but I wanted one large protector. I custom made a bed ditch filler because we have a cosleeping baby situation going on. I prefer the bedding to be tight, and firm for safety. This is all we needed to keep the ditch from becoming a dip with my set up. The texture is not overly bumpy, basically unnoticeable. The feel is cooler and comfortable.
