Harvest Moon The Winds of Anthos for Playstation 5

This is a FANTASTIC game. As an avid player of farming games, this one is in the running to beat out Started Valley as my favorite game. It's got all the typical farming game vibes: planting, harvesting, mining, animal care, relationships, story, marriage, house upgrades, etc. but it's also OPEN WORLD. It's an explorer farming sim lovers paradise. Imagine having your small town farming game experience duplicates across multiple villages and towns spread across a vast open landscape. You can move your farm too. I absolutely love how unique this game is. The only thing I'm sad about is the lack of customization for the main character. There are only three outfits and it takes a while to get the second two. You can't change hairstyles either. I also wish you could ride on the panda. My hope is another game like this gets made with multiplayer and customization options. I would be absolutely in love. Overall, a great game worth playing. Read more

Okay. I've spent a lot of time in game. I generally tend to make sure I get quite a few hours before making a decision about the game. 40 hours as of writing this review. The map is actually quite sizable. Eventually you'll unlock the ability to warp around via convenient statues, so don't be too intimidated by that. It has lots of distinct regions to explore and lot of things to discover making it very fulfilling. The characters are drawn very cute and have distinct personalities. Each bachelor and bachelorette have endearing qualities and cute cutscenes. You can adopt varieties of pets from the wild with unique abilities. (such as pet birds that will bring you seeds with high affection) Although animal products don't sell for a lot so it doesn't seem like there's a huge point in ranching. Especially when you can do quests for Judy (a bachelorette) and she'll give you milk and eggs in exchange rather frequently. The mines are fun, but fishing really seems like the best way to make money. Fishing is fun, but it is a bit odd for a Harvest Moon title. The fact that the money making is a bit unbalanced is part of the reason that it's not 5 star. My only other real criticism is that the tutorial is a bit long, but also doesn't explain everything. There were a few things that it didn't include, but I did eventually find out on my own. All in all; It's a very charming game and you'll find yourself stuck in the 'one more day' cycle if you aren't too careful. Read more

It was packaged well. I did not preorder the game, so I was pleasantly surprised that it came with the Sleepytime Cow plushie. I saw some reviews that stated that they did not receive the plushie, so I guess it's about luck? All in all, I'm grateful for the added bonus, so it's a five stars from me. Read more
