My husband gets cold easily. For him it is genetic. So when I found this heated vest with its several heat areas including shoulders and pockets I had to try it. What a SUCCESS. He no longer gets cold when wearing it. The battery lasts several days because he learned to start it on high for about 2 minutes, then must turn it to low. We live in the mountains of Colorado at 9000 ft elevation. Winters average 150" of snow and over 25 years, we've had temps down to -30 degrees. This vest has been a life saver for him. You can put the heated vest in the bag and machine wash it, very convenient - It fits perfectly and the size I ordered is true to my measurements. I like the very quick warmup within seconds of turning on the heat. Having pretty good heat coverage to my torso. It is also fairly warm without the heat turned on. Good when it's just a bit chilly outside. I just returned from a camping trip where it was about 45° when the sun went down. I used it intermittently for about 4 hours on high and the battery was at 34% when I went to recharge. The morning I left, it was 36° and ran it continuously on medium for about 90 minutes with 42% left on the battery. Very satisfied with the performance. I wore another jacket over the vest that worked well. One may want a full heated jacket with heated arms if your arms normally get too cold. It does take quite while to recharge, so charging when not in use would be prudent. I didn't like that the heating for the pockets are more at the top of the pockets rather than at the bottom where my hands usually rest. Holding my hands at the top of the pockets where I can feel the heating elements is very warm, warming my hands quickly. The power buttons are in an accessible location and stay lit when in use. If the top is unzipped, the collar does obstruct the view of the buttons. I need to push the collar out of the way to see them. The battery is in an inside zippered pocket and rests out of the way on my left hip. This location does make it necessary for me to unzip the vest to reach the battery pocket. Adding a small zipper pull made it more convenient to access the battery pocket. The zippers work smoothly with zipper pulls on the mitten pockets and main zipper. Adding pulls to the chest and battery pockets makes accessing those easier. The size was just a slightly larger than expected. The side cinches work well but leave loops that interfere with accessing my pants pockets, so I need to tuck them up under the vest. Overall, I feel it was a good investment in keeping warm. I was worried about choosing the right vest. So many to choose from, but I wanted the perfect one for a reasonable price. I found it here with this vest. I made sure that the vest has heating elements in the collar (neck), tops of shoulders and lower back. It heats up like FIRE on the highest setting within SECONDS! Lasts all day too. Even WITHOUT the heat the vest is SO warm. It's machine washable, but haven't done that yet. The vest is also soft and thin, which makes it great for layering! I'm so happy.
