We are remodeling our bathroom and wanted to add recessed shelves in the shower and this shelf by Helloaysen is a wonderful solution. We don't have pictures up yet since we are still working on the remodel, but this stainless steel shelf will add a quality and finish to the new shower. Plus it just looks great! This shelf is easy to use and install, just cut out the hole using the template, silicone the lip and you have a great looking shelf in your shower. The 12x24 size will be perfect for shampoo and conditioner bottles and any other tall shower items, it will look and work great!. After looking at several of these setups we are excited for how this will look in our finished shower. For a stainless steel shower shelf this is a great deal for the price. Read more
I picked these up for use in my Master Bathroom renovation (12x12 & 12x24) and am so happy that I found them. While I have been looking for ideas for niches online, I haven't been able to shake my concerns about how tile niches will handle the water that they are continuously exposed to on that small horizontal plane within the niche. Tiled niches are beautiful, but not beautiful enough to justify the risk they have of leaking water straight into your wall cavities. You would not know until it's far too late. I also recognize that I am not looking for another area that I must squeegee after each shower, either. These are beautifully prepared 304 stainless steel niches that are not magnetic, and should not develop any rust due to exposure to water. They're not designed to be tiled, but to offer a workaround for those that are risk-adverse to the potential for water damage caused by tile niches. Growing up in a home that was extensively tiled in the bathrooms, the biggest repairs have always occurred when there's a change in plane but not material, i.e. niches, soap dish inserts, corners and tiled edges. These happen because microscopic holes will inevitably appear anywhere that water is left to stand on grout, for reasons I explain below. The need for these repairs was never discovered until there was already significant damage going on underneath the tile. The result was water damage to the house, well beyond the bathroom, which necessitated very costly and time-consuming repairs. I am so excited to have these Stainless Steel Niches installed because they are 1 solid piece of metal that's designed to not need any grout or fasteners. Rather, these are set-in to the opening created in the backerboard before tiling and then sealed in place with caulk. Unlike grout, failure in caulk is very easy to detect by simply observing how the caulk and the water interact. See, grout is meant to absorb and disperse water. Caulk is used to repel and direct it, which is exactly what you want in a niche. These are painted in a beautiful Bright White paint (not optical white) that's finish is eggshell. I'm using these to pick up white in the bathroom, so that it's not just the sink, toilet and tub that are white. Stylistically, these white niches pull together the whites that are in the bathroom, so that it's intentional over unavoidable. The shape of these niches is extremely clever. The sideswhere your bottles will be resting are sloped ever-so-slightly so that water collecting in the area has no choice other than to run off and down the tiled wall. In tiled niches, this is often the fatal zone, where water seeps behind the grout and rots the wall from the inside-down. Tiled niches are also very vulnerable to tile shift, which is caused by the inevitable expansion and contraction of tiled joints due to the temperature of the water and the temperature of the environment, which is drastically influenced by seasonal changes. This steel niche is not going to interfere with the inevitable tile shift, and it's also not going to prevent it from occurring, either. One final thing that I must mention is how well these niches were prepared to survive shipping. They arrived in pristine condition, directly from the manufacturer and were packaged not one, but two layers of precision bubble wrap that seems to be fabricated specificly for this product. This bubble wrap is then shrunk to fit the product securely and then they are placed into boxes that have precise foam inserts that keep the niches floating several inches away from walls of the box itself. I deeply appreciate it when sellers take the time to ensure that their items will survive the volatile environment that is shipping. It lets me know that they deeply care that the item arrives as manufactured, which is critical in this application as any dents to the niche will be likely to allow for water intrusion. This also tells me that the seller values not only their product, but the buyer's experience as well. Our renovation to our Master Bathroom was brought on by a tragic water damage peril. Although remediation has been slower than I would like, I wanted to share the feedback from both the General Contractor and the tiler. They both love these niches for their design and function as well as the security from future water damage that they provide to homeowners. I hope to be back with pictures post install in a few weeks! Read more
This shower niche is seriously smart – it gives you that built-in storage without the headache of tiling. The SUS304 stainless steel construction means it's not going to rust or corrode, and the matte black finish looks super modern and hides water spots well. Installation was straightforward, and the quality is noticeably better than plastic caddies. It provides a sleek, custom look without needing an expensive contractor or a full bathroom remodel. Looks nice, contrasts well with White tiles. Our contractor put it together. The bottom is a little slanted and that is perfect as water would not get accumulated in the shower. It is of high quality, very sturdy and well built. Large enough to have ample storage for all my shampoo, conditioners, and soaps. Greatly functional and finally I could get rid of the shower caddy, have a neat and beautiful shower. Read more
