Great substitute for the standard Prep H; thick consistency is best for external use
This has the same active ingredient (phenyephrine HCL) at the same concentration (0.25%) as the standard Prep H. This ingredient will help shrink swollen tissue, but it will not numb the area. For the latter you need a cream that contains lidocane, which some versions of Prep H have. But for basic care, this version works just as well as the standard Prep H but at a much nicer price. The cream is pretty thick -- a bit thicker than Prep H. You do need to squeeze rather hard on the tube to get it to come out. On the plus side, a firmer texture cream makes it easy to hit the right spot without any mess. The downside is that if you need to apply it internally (it comes with a dispensing nozzle) it can be a bit difficult. I only have need for external application, so I didn't have any problem at all. I find it works just as well as the standard Prep H. If you're looking for a lower cost substitute for the standard Prep H and use this externally, this is well worth considering. For about the price of one tube of Prep H you can get three tubes of this. Great value for the price. Read more
