Absolute monsters of illumination!
I've been wanting to give a setup like this a try ever since seeing them in random youtube videos, but could never justify the price for some garage lights. As luck would have it I found a coupon in a deal chat and ended up getting 2 full kits for the price of one after a gift card, so I went for it. Shipping went quick, and the lights were nicely packaged with no faulty items out of the box. Setup was kind of laborious, but I knew that it would be so I tried to be prepared. You can absolutely do the setup for this job with just a tape measure and a pencil, but I found using a laser level to be super helpful throughout the process. Once you get your space figured out, lay out all of the pieces on the floor and connect them up to test them out... and discover that you have to wire the plugs up with no instruction. This was a surprise but easily overcome in my situation since I was going to plug them into switched outlets. I simply cut the female end off of a 16/2 extension cord and used the correct wago clips to tie the wires together (there is no polarity to the lighting connectors so don't worry about getting it backwards, just hook brown+brown together and blue+blue together). After testing on the floor, get ready to install, and boy do they include a ton of mounting supplies. 60 zip ties per kit plus way more clips, anchors, and screws then you'll ever need. Because I was mounting to a pretty flat drywall ceiling, I skipped the mounting clips and put an anchor and screw at each connection joint through the provided mounting hole in each. Each light tube is very light and there isn't any danger of them pulling out/falling down. All in all, taking my time, and working by myself, the entire job took me 8-9 hours. 2-3 of those being just the plotting/planning/positioning. All in all, not bad or stressful at all. With the hexagons, once you get your first row placed, the rest are easy peasy. I came from 8 4ft led shop lights which I thought were really bright for what they were. After getting one side installed there was already a huge difference in light output and coverage, as you can see in the 3rd photo. With both kits fully installed and lit, it doesn't matter what time of day you are in the garage, it's brighter than a surgery theater. I would say it's pretty close to being almost too bright! I could not be happier with this setup for the price, just an absolute banger of a value. Truly endgame lighting for me, a hobbyist mechanic/DIYer. You won't be disappointed either. 5/5 Read more
