This is what you're looking for to put in your PS2

Want to put a hard drive in your ancient fat Playstation 2? You got an official Sony Ethernet adapter back in the early 2000s as a gift and never did anything with it? This is what you want. As I understand it, this is just, no catches, a modern production run IDE drive. The price is very reasonable, it works perfectly with Ulaunchelf or HDmanager or whatever, and connects to the official Sony Ethernet port for Fat PS2s. Some things to keep in mind: 1. 250 GB is a good amount but for one of the largest gaming libraries of all time you might want more room. In that case, you're pretty much out of luck as far as IDE drives go. This is basically your only option. As for alternatives... 2. A SATA drive can be connected by an adapter bridge (or so I've heard). It can also be connected to one of the Gamestar HDD adapters that have a native SATA connection, but I would caution against buying one of those - not just because you lose any chance of playing existing online servers put up by enthusiasts, but because they're cheap nonsense as far as I know. In short, this is probably what you're looking for. I just wish I could pay twice as much for twice the capacity. Read more

Great upgrade for older hardware

Hard drives with IDE interfaces are pretty much retro in terms of today's computers. However, Some older hardware can be too good to just throw away. I decided to resuscitate a 64 bit desktop computer and wanted to add a new IDE drive with at least an 8mb cache and supported ATA/133. The seller had such a hard drive (this Hitachi), and I installed it. My computer hardware will not support a Windows version beyond Windows 7, so I purchased a copy of Windows 7 Pro and installed it. I am very happy with the performance of this new Hitachi HD. Just make sure that you use the 40 pin, 80 conductor IDE ribbon cable, otherwise the ATA bus speed will be reduced significantly. Just what I needed

Building out one of my OLD pc's to use as a home server and one of my drives was spitting out some errors. Replaced it by integrating this new one into the system and so far so good. Typical installation including jumper to select slave/master on the IDE bus. Set it to same setting as the drive I replaced... (duuuhhhh lol) and no issues reinstalling the OS. No 5 star rating because I'm sure nothing is perfect so 4 stars is as far as I'm willing to go... But, take my word for it, this drive was sold and new, received as new, and works great so far... Exactly as expected

It's a modern hard drive with a PATA/IDE interface. Used this to replace and upgrade a hard drive in an old G3 iMac -- the old hard drive was extremely noisy with its original 13GB ball-bearing based hard drive. At first I didn't realize just how noisy it was or that it was the hard drive until I put the machine into low-power mode and had it spin down the hard drive. Installed this drive and it fired up immediately. Nice and super quiet. Even head seek is considerably quieter than expected. Very please with how quiet the computer is now! Read more

actually impressed

The hard drive i received says refurbished if it is i would not know it looks brand new. it came well packaged which is very important as for the way mail is handled these days. I have just received it and installed it today so far i am very happy with it. Normally I wait awhile before i right a review. How ever I was so impressed by the quality of this hard drive and how well it was packaged and the fact it came with a warranty from the vendor that I felt they deserved a great review. What puts it over the top is the price. I think it is a very good price for this product. just hope it last as well as the original. so far so good. Would defiantly recommend if you have a older system and just looking to add a few more gigs Read more

Drive worked for just 2 months

First drive clicked when first plugged in. They immediately replaced it however after 2 months later the OS stopped working. When plugging the drive in a USB enclosure, the drive capacity has shrunk down to 30gb. I hope I can return this. Read more
