I was truly surprised by the quality of this item and the great packaging it was sent in. At the price point, I wasn't expecting to be so happy with my purchase. It was so easy, I just had to put in the screws to attach the top cover. I do wish the fit of the cover was a little bit better but it looks great and everyone thinks it cost way more than I paid. This is well-made, has a very nice finish, and is roomy. I think it will go nicely with any light to dark wood furniture you might have. It came very well packaged, but there were a couple of places on each side that had only the outer cardboard to protect it. I can see how a punch or gouge from other items in a delivery truck could cause the damage some reviews noted. I just made sure there wasn’t any extreme container damage, and our piece was perfect. I’ve been on the fence about buying a jewelry armoire for some time. My grandmother had a lovely one that I admired for many years, and when she passed away last year, I asked if I could have it. Unfortunately, another family member took it (which was totally okay), but I couldn’t stop thinking about getting one for myself. I began shopping around for one several months ago and found a few I wanted, but I was hesitant to commit to a particular style for several reasons. I knew the armoire would be too difficult to return after unpacking it, so I HAD to be sure I was ordering exactly what I wanted. I knew I wanted one that locked, I wanted it to be tall and have full-sized side doors, and I wanted it to have drawers down the entire front. I looked at this armoire and another one by Hives and Honey (a beautiful teal blue one that locked completely), and I would have bought that one had it come in black. After opening this armoire, I’m more than delighted that I chose this style instead of the other one. It’s absolutely stunning! The style is lovely — the lines are clean, the red distressing is striking against the crisp black finish, and the side doors blend in with the shape and snap closed firmly. It arrived with no damage at all. I was surprised by just how much styrofoam was packed around the armoire and it fit so securely within the shipping box, there was no wiggle room. Attaching the top was exceptionally quick and easy and I was pleasantly surprised that each drawer is held in place by two short dowels. You can’t see them unless you’re looking for them, so don’t grab a draw and try to yank it out or you might damage the drawer and/or dowels. Some people are turned off by the way the drawers tilt forward when they’re pulled open, but I rather appreciate it. I can see everything inside much easier this way and yes, some things do slide forward, but I have items held in place using drawer organizers, so the tilt is minimally disruptive. The armoire is heavy! It’s not so light that I worry it’ll tip over, even with two nosy cats and a toddler in the house. That being said, it is not solid wood in the traditional sense. It is particleboard. Please keep that in mind if you’re looking for an armoire of solid oak or pine. If you’re on the fence of not completely sure, as I was, take a chance. This armoire is exquisite and I would not hesitate to gift it or recommend it to a friend or family member (in fact, I already have. Cabinet is very pretty in the front. Due to how it was packaged, the box had a couple of holes in it, which left the cheap particle board in the back of the cabinet slightly damaged. (See pictures.) I am disappointed, but keeping it since it doesn't show with the damage only to the back. It is perfect for holding most of my jewelry. I do love that it has a key to lock the top. Because of the damage, I'm giving it 3 stars. Had it arrived in perfect shape, I would have given it a higher rating. Read more

Tall, solid and sturdy. Arrives 95% assembled! The unit is handsome and of surprisingly high quality in design, construction and finish. You must be careful when shopping for mail order furniture.
