I've never been one to get excited about video games based on movies or TV because I assume they'll just be mediocre or uninspired cash grabs. Despite loving Harry Potter, I wasn't really interested in this game until all the great reviews came flooding in. I decided to pick it up, with reduced expectations that I'd hopefully just have a decent enough time and the $70 wouldn't feel like a waste. To my great surprise, this game ended up being the best new franchise that I've played since Horizon Zero Dawn, or Spider-Man (2018). And that's actually very fitting because it feels like the developers of Hogwarts Legacy took a lot of inspiration from those 2 games in particular. From early on, I was constantly impressed with various aspects of the game design that were implemented so well. Just when I'd think "it would be cool/convenient if I could do ____", I would discover you can in fact do ____. The combat was enjoyable and never got boring after my total 63 hours. The story was interesting (although I have a bad habit in these kinds of game of doing 50 other things in between main quests and momentarily forgetting what is going on). There is a lot of depth in the things you can do, like growing plants, making potions, raising beasts, and of course exploring the huge map. And speaking of the map, this world is visually one of the best looking open-world... worlds I've had the pleasure of beholding. At no point in those 63 hours was I not gazing in amazement at the scenery as I flew across the countryside on a broom (during all 4 different seasons, no less). Just about everything in this game was excellent and I would highly recommend playing it if you are either a fan of Harry Potter, or you love fun open-world RPGs. The world is a pleasure to explore and interact with, the RPG elements were executed very well, and getting to fully immerse yourself into every aspect of the wizarding world is an absolute dream. Great game. Just finished it today with 38 hours of playtime- thatโs not 100% completion as I just beat the main story with a little bit of side quest-ing along the way. Pretty good story too. I liked the fact that it was set in the late 1800s so itโs purely wizarding world and not Harry Potter story specifically. Read more

I really like this game ๐ฎ. I like it a lot. Way .more than I ever thought I would for several reasons. I thought I wouldn't love the game because: 1. I'm not a Harry Potter fan. 2. Open world games are not my favorite 3. I didn't expect the astestics to be dissimilar from the movies. Let me tell you, I was wrong. This game is absolutely beautiful. It really deserves an award. There is painstaking and thoughtful ornamental architecture and decoration in every corner and inch of the castle. The experience is magical, and the environment outside of the castle is breath taking. This is one of a few games that I know of in which almost all NPCs are unique characters. Yes, there are some antagonistic elements that are repeated specifically for fantastic beasts. However, every witch and wizard you see throughout the game pocesses their own unique identity and personality. This game also does a really great job of engaging the player in side quests and making the player yearn to explore. I, personally, am not a fan of side quest. I often see them as unnecessary and distracting from the overall story. Not in Hogwarts Legacy. Even though the side quests do not always add to the story, they do not pivot away from it in any way. Each side quests incentives the player with something of value whether it be a new spell, a potion, or galleons. The game, also, give Hogwarts new life because it allows the player to make Hogwarts their own. The player does not have to be a character with some pre-construction such as Harry Potter, and it's not following one of JK Rowling's stories that was already written. The story instead answers the question. What if you (yeah, you) were a character at Hogwarts? Who would you be, what would you do, what House would you be in, and what would you look like? The only thing that could make this game better is if this game was turned into a minecraft or fortnite like world that multiple players could spawn into, so that you could interact with your fellow players in the world of Hogwarts. If you're on the fence about buying this game or not a Harry Potter fan, buy this game. It's not good. It's excellent. My girlfriend hates Harry Potter. She thinks it's boring. She really likes this game! Read more

I absolutely love this game! The story and side quests are fun and the battles are so much fun! If it gets tedious looking for moonstones or hidden treasures, just attacking some goblins or dark wizards for fun is awesome. I actually already own the digital copy, but bought the hard copy to support J.K. Rowling! Read more
