Wear gloves while using! It was easy to cut and shape into the size that I wanted. The wire will cut you or splinter into your skin very easily. We used this with weep hole covers to keep rodents out, works great together! Read more

#0000 steel wool works great for refinishing metals, light rust removal and surface prepping. You can make aluminum items look new, restore old kitchen utensils, and even add luster to household hardware. Before you resort to nasty chemical cleaners, try a pad of #0000 on your antique treasures. Read more

I've used Rhodes American Grade #0000 steel wool for several woodworking and metal polishing projects, and overall, it's a great product. The ultra-fine grade makes it perfect for applying wax finishes, buffing out minor imperfections, and giving that final smooth polish to wood and metal surfaces. It really brings out a professional-looking finish without scratching or damaging delicate materials. The 12-pad pack is convenient, and the pads are easy to tear into smaller pieces when needed. I especially like using it between coats of polyurethane or when cleaning antique hardware. My only complaint—and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5—is that the pads wear down pretty quickly, especially if you're using them on larger surfaces or tougher materials. They also tend to shed a bit, which means cleanup can be a little annoying. Still, for finer detail work and light finishing jobs, they do an excellent job. Definitely a solid addition to any toolbox—just keep in mind they’re best for precision and final-stage work rather than heavy-duty scrubbing. Read more

I always try to keep this Grade of steel wool around my garage for all kinds of cleaning. When you can get it, make sure it is #0000. It's fine enough to clean everything from sheet metal to windshields. The price is about the same as you can find locally, but I have not always been able to find it close to home. It's just easier to have it shipped just once or twice a year. I do recommend that you throw away what you have used. If you keep it around, you could accidentally grab some of the wool that has some rust or other debris in it and ruin everything. It's cheap enough to start with new wool every time. Read more

I bought this steel wool for general home use, but my wife quickly claimed it for a big dresser restoration project. It held up well and worked exactly the way coarse #3 steel wool should. The 16-pad pack is a better value than the usual 12-pack, and it’s nice to have extras on hand. No downsides to mention. Read more
