It comes included with a fixing strap which ensures the entire unit remains flush and secure against the side of the mattress. The height is adjustable to work with different mattress heights. It feels incredibly sturdy when used to transition in and out of bed. The top rail is padded for comfort and good grip. This bed rail provides excellent leverage to restore independence and prevent falls. I like these motion sensor light that came with the rail also, that helps a lot with night time wakings. The light can be slipped in one of the mesh pockets or comes or can be magnetically installed anywhere using the included adhesive magnets and metal plates. The motion sensor setting is particularly nice so I don’t even have to think about it, it just turns on. The finish of the rail blends in well and doesn’t look overly clinical or overly like a piece of medical equipment. This was a good investment for home safety. Overall I’m really pleased with this bed rail. It’s a good size, not too big, easy to assemble, easily adjusted to fit my bed. It was easy to slide in between the box spring and mattress. It feels very secure and solid. I haven’t yet added the strap since I’ll need to take the mattress partway off to do that and I’m not able to do that at the moment. I’d like to get one for the other side of the bed; I don’t get in or out on that side, but having something to grab on and pull with over there would be helpful. This review would be an unequivocal 5 stars but for one relatively minor, yet unnecessary and easily remedied flaw. The upper corners of the bag (for magazine, glasses, etc.) that attaches to the frame were sewn very sloppily and one was already coming apart and fraying (see photos). Now, I sew, and for me it was much easier to just fix it than to send the whole thing back, and possibly just get a replacement with the same issue. It took a few minutes, since I had to sew around the little clips that serve to hang it on the frame, but it would have taken almost no time for it to be done properly when it was being made, before the clips were installed. For someone without a sewing machine, this would have made an advertised feature pretty useless. The rears would have spread quickly in use. There’s no reason for such a sloppy oversight, given that a few seconds’ worth of attention was all that was needed to accomplish clean, secure seams at these corners when the bag was being made. And the quality of the frame and handles is so good. Everything fit perfectly and smoothly. If the bag is to be included, it should be made up to the same standards. The grab bars are well-padded and comfortable. The whole thing feels very secure as I use it. Very good for the price. But the sloppy sewing on the most important part of the bag is ridiculous. Quality looks great. Love the light and the dual bag. Will come back and update after hubby uses for a bit. Last night was his first night to use it. I could tell he was more confident getting out of the bed last night after falling out of the bed and falling on the floor trying to get himself out. He has dementia and just didn’t comprehend to wake me to help him out and our nurse suggested we order one from Amazon. He’s had about 9 falls in the last few days so I was diligent reading the reviews and there were a lot of different ones to choose from.
