This is a real air conditioner, with real coolant. You don’t have to put ice or cold water in it. Set with fan on low, it blows 57° air, by my measurement. Surprisingly, I t’s quieter than an in-window air conditioner. I have the 8,000 BTU model and use it for my bedroom/office. When outdoor temps are in the high 90’s, it can only hold the room in the 80’s, regardless of setting the thermostat to 71°. If I were buying again I might opt for the 12,000 BTU model, but for exterior temps under 90° it’s adequate for me and saves some energy. It can generally bring the room to 70° no problem. It has a very accurate thermostat, and cuts the A/C off to just fan, or off completely, very accurately, then back on as needed to hold the set temp. So you can leave it on for as long as you like. I don’t use the dehumidifier mode, just the A/C, and I haven’t had to drain or dump any water from it. The filters are easy to take off, clean, and put back in. My room has casement crank-out windows, which I feared would make installing the exhaust hose difficult. I suppose I could have had some plexiglass cut to fit, but used cardboard from old delivery boxes, and 3” masking tape, as a temporary window block, and it worked so well I’ll just leave it that way. Looks fine from outside. Super Happy with this purchase. Very well made. Does a great job! Read more
This AC is very reliable. It takes a while to cool the room, but after a couple of hours it does the job :) Note: It is slightly loud, so if you're used to white noise whilst sleeping then you're good. Hence the 4 star rating. Read more
There doesn't seem to be many reviews for this unit and what there are, are pretty mixed. Not sure why because I'm really happy with this AC unit. This is the first AC I've ever owned, so I don't really have anything to compare it to though. I bought it when we had the unprecedented heatwave in the Pacific Northwest, it got to over 108 where I live. AC is still pretty rare here since it's unusual to even get higher than 90 or so. I have the unit in my second floor living room (high 10ft ceilings, it gets HOT up here, even when outside temps are in the 80's) with an open concept layout, so my kitchen and dining room is also part of the big living area. There is a south facing glass sliding door onto my deck that gets very hot in the summer. Also, I have a split level, so the area for the stairs is also open. I don't know what the sq ft is of all that, but for the size of the unit, I'm pleasantly surprised by how well it does. This AC unit does a good job of keeping the whole area comfortable on hot days, so far mid-90's and above outside. I have it set to 72 degrees inside and as long as I close all the curtains and turn it on early before it gets hot inside, it doesn't seem to struggle. I'm happy with the level of cooling. Noise level isn't any worse than having a fan on even when the cooling kicks on. I have had no issues with water leaking or dripping. Luckily, the perfect location for it is right by my front room window and a dedicated outlet that I use for my electric fireplace. The window exhaust kit that came with it could be a little more robust, but it installed in my vertical sliding window okay. I had planned to buy new foam to beef up the window insulation, but it hasn't been necessary so far. The only thing I was unhappy about is that it took a couple weeks to get here and seemed to bounce around A LOT within Fed Ex's network, sometime going back and fourth between hubs. But that's not the AC units fault! Read more
This ac does great at cooling my living room and kitchen area. It is much quieter than many other window units I have used but it does still make a bit of noise. Looks great, not a huge eye sore. Read more
It does not cool the area it claims to cool. I live in Chicago and summer here is mild. And, still it can't get the indoor temperature to be lower than 80 when the outside temperature is 85. And, my studio apartment is less than 400 sq ft. And, don't get me started on their support. This product is not sold or serviced by honeywell. Their name is slapped on it but it is sold by some unknown company called JMATEK. I contacted honeywell about cooling issues and they asked me to contact jmatek. And, when I contacted jmatek they asked me to contact honeywell. I told both of them what each other told me. And, yet continued with their templated answers without helping me. Now, it started giving a shrill high pitched sound when I operate it. I can't run it. I prefer warm room over that sound. I have spent hours into contacting them but to no avail. Such a waste of time and money. I should not trusted Honeywell brand. I can't even return it because I stupidly thought that I could get honeywell to fix the conditioner and that exchange took more than a month which was enough for return window to expire. My friend bough portable air conditioner of other brand of similar price and specs and he doesn't have any issues at all. Stay away from this brand. Read more
