HP 34f 34 Curved Monitor with AMD FreeSync Technology Ultra-Wide Quad HD Resolution 3440 1440p IPS Display and

Like a lot of you reading this...I am doing a lot more working from home - so wanted to improve the setup I have. I already have $1200 ultra wide gaming monitor that is stunning - but trying to use that for work as well, constantly switching over to my work laptop, etc - was a total pain. I wanted to set up a separate workstation for home office that was dedicated. I researched quite a bit to find a good, reliable, quality ultra-wide for working from home. Just for PC productivity. I started by looking at the really inexpensive options, $200-300 price range. All of them seemed to have a lot of issues. A lot of them were only 1080p resolution, were not an IPS panel, had compromised brightness and color that you could easily notice - and cheap build. And a lot of stories about poor quality and problems and returns. You get what you pay for. And given that its a monitor I was going to be staring at quite a bit, I didn't want to be going too cheap and be frustrated by compromised image quality, and other issues. So I decided to see what around $500 would get me. And after a lot of looking settled on this 34 inch HP. This is a high quality ultra-wide monitor - with just the right features for productivity working from home. Bright, clear, sharp text (no worries looking at documents, spreadsheets, etc), vibrant colors. Easy to set up. Great connectivity. Mine had no dead pixels. Well packed. Solid build that looks high end. Comes with all kinds of cables included! Mini display port, HDMI, and USB. That is very nice. If you are looking for a monitor for productivity, working from home - this is perfect. You will love it. It looks great/modern, thin bezel at edges. Its a nice design. Excellent for working on mega-spreadsheets, having multiple windows open at once, etc. Good for watching movies too if you want. Its an IPS panel which means bright colors, good dark/light contrast and good viewing angles. It is also QHD so its going to have sharp text. And the 1440p resolution means you have the space to have multiple windows open and still have everything crystal clear. If you want a monitor for hard-core PC gaming, this may not be it. Look to true gaming monitors from ASUS, Alienware, etc. You could game on this monitor - and love it - but its not a top spec for that. So if you are a hard core gamer with extremely high standards, look elsewhere and expect to spend at least double this price. If you are a PC gamer....It is FreeSync compatible so if you have an AMD video card it will give you a gorgeous, clear gaming experience that should be okay for most people - except for serious gamers who are deep into every spec and notice everything. If you have an nVidia video card, this monitor will not give you G-Sync compatibility; so if you want that, don't buy this monitor. So as far as the complaints....People complain that it has no built-in speakers. Really? who isn't using a headset or external speakers anyway. I have never used internal speakers on a monitor. When they are included, they are usually crap. This is not a reason to avoid this monitor. In fact, I am glad they left the speakers out to keep the cost lower. Also you will see complaints that this monitor does not have a long list of very detailed adjustments to its color, etc. Well if you are a pro designer and need a pro monitor, then go buy one. The color accuracy on this monitor is outstanding. 99% of the population will love it. Also complaints that the monitor does not extend upward for height adjustment, does not rotate. It only has tilt forward and backward. Again, I don't see this as a reason to trash this monitor. It sits at the perfect height on your desk for ergonomics. The stand is sturdy and stable. Honestly what would I do with a ton more adjustability anyway? HP spent the money where it matters - the picture is fantastic and a solid spec. Also some complain that it doesn't have 10 USB ports. Really? Go buy a USB hub, the are not expensive. This is a monitor. This monitor, for about $450, is an amazing value. If you need a very clear and bright 34 inch ultra-wide for working from home, that also looks great on your desk - this is a real winner. If you want to nit-pick and complain that it doesn't have the same features as monitors 2-3 times this price, then get out your wallet and go buy one of those other monitors. I work from home 12 hours a day, spending most of that time sitting in from on this monitor. Frankly, it's great. I can have 3 windows open and have all of them be readable and about the width of a piece of paper. With my blue light filter glasses, I suffer little to no eye strain during my shifts. For gaming, I primarily play Civ 6 and this monitor is gorgeous from a distance of about 1.5 feet. Colors are vivid and relatively accurate, 60Hz for strategy games is perfectly playable, and the width and curve allow for a lot of screen real estate to be utilized. Running this on Linux also had no issues and allows for easier switching between desktop environments. Read more

I've bought two of these monitors during this WFH period. After a few months of sharing the 1st, we decided to invest in a second external monitor (it was too good to live without!). We tried to save some money and buy the cheaper options from Spectre, but you get what you pay for with the cheap monitors. This is seamless, beautiful, and easy to configure. Read more

Long read ahead, but heres a TLDR: Exceptional monitor, aesthetically modern and slim, great build quality, superb image, easy to use/configure, good price, no real height and swivel adjustability, no speakers. Content creators, consumers and casual gamers will love the HP 34f Curved. Hardcore gamers and people that needadjustable monitors will not. Okay, if you're still here, thank you. I was skeptical about ordering a monitor online but I bit the bullet anyway. And boy am I glad I did. The packaging was standard adn the inside was packed neatly in protective wrap. I had the Acer Predator xb321hk and the HP n246v. Both were IPS panels. Although the Acer was a 4K screen, the image seemed to lack "pop", even after calibration. I suspect it has something to do with the anti-glare coating. The HP n246v had amazing "pop" in comparison but the 1080p resolution was too little for me. So I researched and read and watched countless reviews to find what I wanted. I couldn't find much on the HP 34f curved monitor but at some point late night on Black Friday, I stumbled across the spec sheet in pdf format. Feeling fairly confident, I bought the monitor and crossed my fingers hoping I wouldn't be another casualty of a faulty monitor. The monitor arrived in good time, brand new with all the accessories (HDMI cable, DP cable, Power adaptor). Putting it together was a piece of cake; pop the neck into the back of the monitor, and then connect the base (w-10.5inch x depth 7.5inch x height of monitor from bottom of base 3inch) to the neck. Plug in the cables, power on, select source (if it doesnt automatically), and the play with the color settings and turn on FreeSync (only available with 60Hz on DisplayPort). This monitor does not have height adjustablility nor does it have speakers (whats wrong with you, get real speakers). The resolution of 3440x1440 is between Full High Defnition and 4K: for a monitor i think its perfect! (1080p being too cramped for multiple windows and spreadsheet coloumns, too low on pixels as well and 4K being too strenous on my eyes for text as I sit 32inches from the screen and also, 4k is murder on my gpu, a gtx970, not to mention 4k is wasted on any screen smaller than 49 inches). GTA V looks smooth and colorful, COD looks stunning, Forza looks fantastic. Movies and YT videos in 21:9 look insanely good but if they are in 16:9 they will have black bars on the sides (doesnt bother me, its like having a really good 24inch monitor). Read more

I previously had 2 monitors for productivity - but with the change to this 34' single ultra wide screen... I have not looked back (and don't miss looking at that annoying old divider between the 2 screen...especially with all the zoom meetings). Responsive, vivid, great for text and graphics (I don't game, but do a lot of video and photoshop) - and am impressed. Great for work, lots of space for multiple windows wide open. A delight. I really like this monitor! It's a great size and the curved element really makes it easier to work with. I was skeptical that it would make that big of a difference, honestly, but it does! I did notice that I needed to step down the screen's refresh rate a tad in order to make it work with my 2019 MacBook Pro. Read more
