I was totally unfamiliar with this type of product until I received this Hydrocolloid Roll for Wound Care. I did some research online and discovered that not only is this technology lauded within the medical community, it also offers many advantages in wound care over traditional approaches like bandaids or gauze and tape. It is said to promote a better skin healing environment than those other methods, and to have many varied uses, as the product description illustrates. This looks like a good product. My only quibble is that the enclosed instructions are printed so tiny that I needed to use a magnifier to read them. I can see where that might be a problem for an unfamiliar user dealing with a first-aid situation. FWIW, the shiny clear plastic outer layer needs to be peeled off of the product to expose the adhesive side before applying. It took a bit of doing to get it started, but after doing so I see that it actually adheres pretty well. I do not currently have a wound to try it on, so I cannot speak to how well it works. These work great for small cuts. Scissors work better to cut to size, but in a pinch a sharp pocket knife works too. I'd recommend cutting the corners to help prevent the edges from coming up, but the adhesive sticks well to clean, dry skin regardless. They're pretty waterproof and won't get wet with washing your hands or showering, and they flex and are light enough that I notice them less than I notice a traditional bandaid, in fact they're easy to completely forget about! This will be a nice addition to our emergency pack. It will do more than a bandage can. It is wide enough (2") to easily cover an injury or surgical site. I like that it comes with instructions as many things don't and you are left guessing. Since we don't currently have a need for it I cannot review it's actual effectiveness. I learned of hydrocolloid rolls fairly recently and these work like I now expect these to work. The tape is a roll and requires cutting to size which is convenient for sizing it to the would size. The tape just goes right on the wound and is comfortable and protects it well. The only thing I don't like about it is the same reason as all of these tapes, and that is the fact that the edges almost within minutes or hours will start to come off little by little and attract enough dust where it won't stick back on. while this is an annoyance, it does usually stay on long enough before I need to change it with a fresh one anyway.
