A great small speaker. Using my mobile ham radio, Icom IC-2730b, in the car, it was difficult to hear even though my radio has a decent speaker compared to other radios. Where the main unit is as well as road noise, it was iffy if I could hear the radio at highway speeds. With the windows down, forget it. The Bluetooth add on for the radio is quite pricey, so I opted to try an external speaker. After looking at numerous options, I decided on this Icom SP-35. Based on the reviews here as well as other places, it seemed a solid choice. The speaker arrived, I plugged it in and couldn't be happier. For most conversations the volume is at 1/2 to 2/3rds and plenty loud. I'm no audiophile yet the tone seem good to me other than the sound does get a bit muddy at full volume, but again, full volume is rarely needed. The speaker packs a punch for it being so small. The size is also a bonus as it increases the "where to put it?" options. The small diameter cable is plenty long, so where your main unit is in most any vehicle shouldn't be an issue. The speaker is well built and has some weight to it, which indicates a quality speaker due to magnet size. Setup was easy can be, with just plugging it into the radio. I'm super happy with this purchase. Read more

Usual Icom quality! No complaints. And in fact, its actually smaller than I expected, which ended up being really great! I have mine mounted right next to the radio, so I never unwrapped the cord, and it does sound better that the radio's (AT DUV578II) internal speaker isn't not bad to start with) The mounting bracket has an index pin on which it pivots so and the lock knobs lock it into its adjusted position. Its Icom quality, so price is fair! (For those wonder why I have no Mic, I have a Bluetooth remote Desktop mic so the radio and speaker don't clutter my workspace!.... Yeah, its awesome!) Read more

I was very skeptical about purchasing this speaker. For it's size, it has amazingly clear, and loud, quality communication audio. However, don't expect it to sound like a BoomBox! I am running a Yaesu FT450D in my truck, and this speaker is a huge improvement over the larger 4" Optimus cube speaker I was using. I have read many reviews, and others have mentioned the cord could be longer. I do agree, but not a game changer for me, and overall I am very pleased with this speaker. Amazon has the best price on these right now, and I may purchase a few more before Icom decides to discontinue this little all metal guy. I've been a ham for 29 years, and have many larger name brand, exspensive speakers, and this one for it's size, and price, impresses me for sure. Read more

Sounds much better than the built-in speaker on my FT-7900. Smaller than I imagined (I didn't check dimensions). Sound quality is ok for its size. Very loud if you crank it. Read more

This little speaker surprised me with how loud it can get, without degradation in sound quality. It's a nice solid, and punchy little speaker, but because it's small it is a little lacking in a full bassy sound. For the price, it's an excellent little speaker! It floats between my HF POTA radio and my HF base station, until I purchase a bigger fuller sounding speaker for my base station. Read more

Very solid, well made external speaker. Works great with my Kenwood TS-590SG. Lives up to the Icom brand name and surprisingly good sound quality for a small speaker. Much better than the cheap, no-name, speakers out there. Read more

These are great. I have one in my Jeep overhead so I can hear my ham radio mounted in back. Also have one near the ham radio in my garage. Would get them again, no question. I can't hear very well any more and they take care of that. Read more
