This is my second one to order. I’ve had my first one for over 2 years in our office and there are no cracks or chips; no sign of wear. It does move slightly over time, but I haven’t put anything on it to keep it from moving yet. It wasn’t a big enough deal. Found myself in need of another chair mat so ordered another one. My children got new desks with chairs that roll. We have hardwood floors in their rooms and didn’t want the chairs to scratch the wood. We purchased these mats in hopes that they would prevent major scratching over time. So far, they are great! They arrived unrolled so they were able to lay flat immediately. They are very translucent, so we can still see the beauty of the floors. Love that you can order different sizes, the size was perfect for the space. While they grip to the ground and don’t slide, you can also easily move them if needed. They are easy to clean, too. I bought this to replace the area rug that I had under my computer desk. Over time, the rug began to fray and fall apart, and the bottom of it began to turn into this... powder, all over the floor. It actually damaged the wood! I bought this Office Chair Mat in a larger size than I knew that I would need, expecting that I could cut it down to size; I was right. It was tough to cut with a pair of scissors, but easier than a razor knife in actuality. I simply measured and marked where I needed to cut, and in a minute or so, I had it cut to size with a regular pair of household scissors. There are two surfaces to this product. One is completely smooth, and the other has a slight texture to it. I put the textured side facing up on accident, not realizing I'd done so before stapling the corners down with my staple gun. But, it doesn't appear to have any effect on anything; it stays in place, and the chair rolls just fine. Now, I did mention just now that I had to staple it down... This is the reason I am giving this four stars and not five; it comes rolled up. I honestly feel that these type of products need to ship completely flattened out, because when you roll them, it's very hard to get them to lay flat. Even with all four corners stapled down, there are still bumps, bubbles and waves in it that haven't smoothed themselves out yet. All in all, it's a nice product, and it seems to do the trick. We'll see how it handles the test of time. Do take into account that you may run into the same issue where you have to secure the corners somehow to keep the whole mat from wanting to curl up off the floor, making moving your chair difficult, or even cause you to trip when you walk around it. Quality appears great, it came well packaged and in a timely manner. I believe it’s going to be my solution to protecting my art table with a white, work surface. I haven’t actually used for what I bought it for...which is not hardwood floors. I intend to use it over my art table top. Smooth surface up, textured surface down. Textured surface to be painted with a white rubberized paint for slippage. It is NOT for use as a cutting surface. My art room is currently under construction so I haven’t had a chance to see if my idea will work. Read more

I like that it's thick enough, and it's clear so I can see my hardwood floor through it. When I received it all curled up, I immediately submerged it in a bathtub of very hot water for about 15 minutes. That enabled me to unroll it. I dried it off and placed it at my desk. I wasn't sure if the rough side should go down and smooth side up??? So I placed it rough side down and smooth side up. The edges remained curled up so I was tripping over it all the time; so I flipped it, placing smooth side down and rough side up. Now the edges curl into the floor so no more tripping, but the mat now moves all over the floor, even when I placed the bottom of the desk on the edge of the mat to hold it down (see picture). The shipper should either ship it flat, or roll it the other way so the edges curl into the floor when the rough side is down. Read more

Have had this mat since 2017 and it's still protecting the floor. 5-stars for price and quality! We have wood floors and we operated without a mat for a number of years, then noticed the finish wearing away on the floor. Unfortunately enough grit make it off your shoes or other areas of the house onto the floor and once the office chair wheels pick that up it's grinding it into the floor. So it's not JUST the wheels themselves rolling across it causing the wear, but anything the wheels pick up. Well, this mat eliminates wear on the floors. This was one of those rare occasions where I purchased an item without checking the reviews. It was a four and a half star hardwood floor mat of the precise dimensions I needed. What could be more straightforward than that? However, this thing's billing as a hardwood floor mat is a lie. The textured surface meant to keep it from sliding is entirely ineffective. For the sake of thoroughness, I tried it on several types locations and the results remain the same. The thing glides with incredible ease, almost immediately exposing the floor to the very chair you were trying to protect it from. Due its unique design, you can actually place your feet on the mat and slide it out from under your chair while sitting in it, like some variation on the tablecloth trick. It is extremely good at not doing its job. Also, once it has slid out of place just enough, the casters of your chair catch the edges and begin to deform the mat and further its ineffectuality. As much as this cost, and with the product including the express purpose in its name, I find this product entirely unacceptable and would recommend prospective customers look elsewhere I am giving this thing one star because, despite prompt shipping and good packaging, what arrived does not do the one thing it was supposed to do.
