In this kit you get the hand held device and a tube of conducting serum (which you use together). The idea is to apply the serum and then bring the device across the treated areas. Note that this is a specific type of serum, one that is highly conductive, and when you use it up, you'll need to buy something similar (though you don't need to buy the INIA brand). OK, how about the device? It offers a variety of treatment modes ** Red light therapy ** Blue light therapy ** Vibration ** Warming ** Cooling ** Galvanic current The vibration is modest, as is the warmth (max 107.6 degrees F). The cooling gets it down to 60.8 degrees F . I can't comment on the galvanic current except to say that you'll need to use the conductive serum to get any value from that function. That leaves us with the red and blue light therapies. The frequency of the red light is 630nm, which is pretty much in the middle of the red spectrum. The intensity of this device is rather low compared to other dedicated red light wands I've used, but opinion varies on the required intensity needed for therapeutic usefulness. Also, because the red light emitters are relatively small, this wand also takes a considerable amount of time to fully treat your face, relative to other red light emitters that can cover a larger surface quite easily. On the other hand, the small red light area on this device means you can pinpoint treatment to very local areas of your face (like under your eyes). The frequency of the blue light is 470nm, which is the center of where blue light therapy typically sits. This type of light is promoted as useful for controlling acne, inflammation and general healing. But like the red light, it's pretty low intensity, so the effictiveness is hard to predict. The light type, vibration mode, and heat/cool mode is controlled by an overall mode selector. You have: Face: Galvanic current, red+blue light, vibration Neck: Galvanic current, red light, vibration Thermal: Heat, red light, vibration Cool: Cool, blue light, vibration You don't have granular control over each function, so what you want needs to fit into one of those categories. Overall, this is a cute, well-constructed device, decent for what it is. But there are other devices at a similar (or lower) price that offer a choice of higher intensity light. The same goes for a facial massager with built in heat. So the real value here is that you get everything in a nice hand-friendly device that's portable, battery operated, and can perform multiple functions.
