I mounted my brand new iOttie to my rental car. It worked great. However, after I removed it after two days it left a clearly noticeable ring mark / dent on the dashboard that can't be cleaned away: https://i.imgur.com/4h9KIf7.jpg When I contacted the iOttie customer support, I was told: "Unfortunately iOttie is not responsible for damage to dashboards. We state so in our manual/product packaging that we suggest to mount the product on the windshield to avoid damage. It is also stated on our warranty section of our website. The ring may go away on its own-it may not as well. There is not permanent fix to it at this time." The amazon.com product description contains a picture suggesting to mount it to the dashboard: https://i.imgur.com/dGWK6A6.png I totally did not see this coming and would therefore highly recommend to not mount this to your dashboard. I bought this mount because even though I would prefer a phone mount that is inserted into your cd slot, I have a backup camera screen that I would be unable to use. I bought this mount as it was very highly reviewed. When I first bought it, I was extremely happy with the product. It was very secure and never wobbled. I had no problem trusting my new phone with the mount. However, after the weather turned cold, the mount lost suction and jumped off of my dashboard. Fortunately, my phone wasn't damaged. Even though I have tried to reattach it a few times, it keeps falling off. Because of the potential of damage to my phone, I am going to stop trying to reattach the mount. It lasted less than 2.5 months as I bought it at the end of August. I am not sure what to do with it now. Hopefully others have better luck. Read more

This is a versatile phone/device holder due to the adjustable grip size and easy to adjust pivots. To release and snap in is super easy, even with one hand. The suction cups sticks steadfastly to smooth surfaces to the point where it is hard to remove purposely (this is a good thing). I do have 2 complaints about it, although one is more of a nitpick. First, the nitpick is that the mount makes creaking noises even over moderate bumps It's not loud and if you have music on you won't hear it but I thought I would point it out. I'm sure this is probably a common phenomenon on many mounts that extend any distance due to the physics involved with a relatively heavy object on the end of a lever. Second, this does not reliably stick to anything but smooth surfaces even though it is marketed to stick to "most smooth and textured surfaces". It ain't happening on any textured surface that I've found (I tried surfaces on all four of my cars). Sticking to textured surfaces was the biggest selling point for me so it was a bit of a disappointment. Hence the 3 stars (should be more like 3.5). However, given the price I paid and how well it works outside of these things, I can't say I'm unhappy with the purchase as long as it holds up for a few years. Read more

Third time is the charm! The iOttie is the third car cradle I've bought for my I Phone 4S in about as many weeks! First one was from Walmart, will I ever learn? Absolutely no suction and that is a real problem in Louisiana in August, believe me! The thing would go flying off the windshield with no notice! I know I have a bit of a lead foot during take off but hey, seriously? Then I decided to be a discerning shopper and scour the reviews on Amazon. After a very well done video recommendation for the Aukey, I ordered that. Arrrrrr! One of the arms that was supposed to hold the phone wouldn't move inward from the beginning! Back to the reviews and decided on this little beauty. Wow! Unbelievable suction, standing up to the August heat just great! And that One Touch installation is the bomb! The reviews raved about this feature and I wasn't really sure what they were talking about until I placed my phone in the cradle, it actually grabbed it and the arms snapped shut automatically! One hand is all you need and this baby has your phone in a super strong grip that stays! So if you want a phone cradle that works, the iOttie is what you are looking for! Read more

I would love to write a nice review for this product, as it appears to be well made. The problem I have is that even though the box says "sticks to any surface" there is not a disclaimer that "any" does not include BMW dash boards. I called iOttie customer service and spoke to a very friendly young lady who I told that I was having trouble getting the mount to adhere to my BMW dash said "we are aware of the problem with BMW dash boards." She suggested using a sticky disk. I suggested that she mail me one and gave her my email address so that she could email me for my contact information. The call was over a week ago and I have not received a response from her. Read more
