Reasonably sturdy file box. We have three of this kind, two of them from a few years ago and they hold up reasonably well, and include an accessories compartment on top for things like paper clips. If the box is well loaded and latch is not on perfectly, it slips off the catch and the lid opens, and it can break. We have other file boxes with better latches (two of them spaced apart) and they work much better (they latch in better) and hold better (with the weight distributed over two latches). So, I can't give this product a 5 because the latches are not great compared to other brands, Other than that, they're good... until the latch breaks, and then they're difficult to lift (you have to grab underneath with both hands). Ordered two to help contain my business docs and thank you cards. They both are light enough to stay portable, but sturdy enough to hold a tad more. Would definitely order again. TNote: the latch on the lid is designed to actually latch somewhat backwards from other things, so be aware. It will still make the signature sound as it latches, but it may come off when opening it. It reattaches easily, but that tells you the heavy-duty ness of the object. You hmget what you pay for.So I'd only open it on a surface, like a table, lest it should spill uot on you. Not even worth the purchase price!! The box is thin, the lid won't shut over the top of the box without serious wiggling/adjustment, the latch arrived laying in the bottom of the box. Furthermore, both top side rails of the box show what looks like factory heat damage along the top rails, the plastic is melted from contact with a hot round metal item. NOT worth the 40 mile drive to return this item to a UPS store, but that's where it's headed. Would give zero stars if I could. Read more
