This stand has a nice, solid hinge that does not move, even when typing on it. It is also stable when extended up so that the laptop I use is almost vertical, as in several of the pictures. I got this for my wife to use at work. She loves it. It brings the screen up to where it's comfortable for her to use. It's very easy to adjust. The joints hold their position well and have a smooth high quality feel to them. We ended up getting another for my daughter it worked so well. I got a WFH (work from home) job and a 13" Macbook AIR issued by work, and I wanted something to place my laptop on so it would be more eye level and I could more easily do my work. This stand was the perfect fit. It is very sturdy, well made, and can hold not only my Macbook AIR for work, but my 16" Macbook Pro with no issues. I love this stand so much I bought a second one for my Macbook Pro for the other side of my desk to create an awesome battle station. A fun little observation: for the Macbook AIR (fanless) when I'm doing intense computing, since this stand is made out of metal, it absorbs the heat from the AIR and helps cool it off some.
