I got the JBL SUBBP12AM right after my Sound Storm Laboratories LOPRO10 started to clunk out on me. It started to make a distorted sound that was noticeable even at low volumes. So I decided to go for a trusted brand name and higher price range. Fist of all- this thing is huge- the box itself is like a small fridge. I went back to look at the dimensions and there are some conflicting stats- so let me clear the air. Its 22-7/16" W x 14-1/2" H x 12" D. So check carefully where you will place this in your car/truck/SUV- you will definitely need space. The install was pretty standard - you can use speaker level or the RCA connections which is convenient. No matter what you use this Sub is loud- with nice thumps-and nice volumes from the factory setup. After tweaking the sound to my adjustments the bass was clean undistorted and was definitely felt. I listen to virtually everything from pop to reggae to jazz to current music. I listen to lots of older 80s and 90s so my equalization will vary. I did notice the lower deep bass felt a bit more artificial in older songs however - which will take some getting used to. For example- the drum bass on older rock songs (Boston, Santana, Led Zeppelin) will feel much more 'rounder' instead of a short dry punch on this sub. This isn't a bad thing just will sound a bit more different that's all. You wont be disappointed believe me this box rocks and will move your windows. A few things- you will definitely need to install the remote Sub level adjuster especially if your taste in music varies. I need to test the Sub on long trips in 90 degree weather to see if the Sub shuts down like a few reviewers mentioned. Other than that its a great sub for the money- Don't bother with those low profile powered amps- they will not give you the full bass sound you get from the JBL SUBBP12AM. Worth every penny in my opinion. I will post some pics at a later date and UPDATE the review after a long weekend trip. UPDATE: After being stuck on the whitestone bridge for an hour the Sub went out on me- the AC was on and outside temp was about 80 degrees. then 2 days later after a 30min drive to work in the morning. went out again. So there is something there about the reviews saying the sub shuts off without unexpectedly. I'm going to check my set up- if not its going back. Read more

I saw a guy on YouTube Installing this without a remote wire and I was sold.. all my previous installs I’m previous cars required that for the speaker to turn off.. which I guess I got wrong and my batteries would always die lol. This has been the easiest install I’ve ever done, I just connected them to a back speaker wires and the battery and ground and it was on and popping.
