We leave it on quite often, but it's not bright enough that it keeps the baby awake. The sound machine is a huge plus - there are many sounds that you can choose from. I do wish it came with a shushing sound though. Overall, the device is easy to use, portable, and the rechargeable battery lasts a while. Such a great little night light and white noise generator. You plug in the usb cord into a USB A port on a outlet or older phone charger block to charge up the 'egg' light. It has a platform that you just set the egg on to have it charge. Then you can easily just pick it up and remove it from the charging platform. it seems to work both via charged battery on while sitting on the charging platform. It has instructions on how the tap functions and buttons work on a label on the egg, on the bottom of the charger platform and in a handy instruction packet. They also include a QR code to scan and extend the warranty out to 18 months. Pretty cool. You can change the lights from soft white to bright white and then many different RGB colors. It has a built in timer and you can turn up or down the volume very easily. There is also a button to cycle through a lot of different white noise sounds. I can see this being great for not just babies but adults too. Sometimes it's nice to just have some background white noise, vs the TV, to fall asleep to and this is perfect for that. I’ve been using it for one week, and it’s very well made; I’ve dropped it a couple of times and it still works. The instructions are taped onto the device, which is helpful in case you forget. It is easily controlled by touch, and the brightness adjusts smoothly. I’ve used it for couple days now, haven’t had to charge. I’ve also used the timer so don’t drain battery. I wanted a nightlight for my niece who is afraid of the dark and honestly didn’t think much of the white noise option. This seemed like a good option because although the soft night lights seemed appealing I saw so many where the silicone shape pops off and then it is almost impossible to get it reattached. This came with a set of faces to stick on the egg which was cute. The white noise options are quite varied and it has simulated nature sounds, soft melodies, and on the weirder end I think it was city construction noises(?). My niece quickly figured out how to cycle between the sounds and settled on the bird calls. It keeps her calm and occupied during car rides at night, so works perfectly. The charging base is more appreciated than I expected. It is nice to just toss it onto the base instead of fiddling with plugging in a USB at the end of the day. It is such a first world problem, but still nice. The different light colors are all nice and the option to dim it and stop at different levels is great, although there are no specific steps of dimness you just have to stop when you feel it is right.
