EDIT: I was mistaken in my first review and there are plastic gaskets on the rotary grater drum that did break/crack after only about 4-5 months of use. I was going to downgrade my rating but I called Kuchenprofi customer support team and they sent me two new rotary drums (since I had purchased two graters). Now I am really impressed with their service recovery and will keep my five star review. Original: I was given one as a gift and loved it. Much higher quality than my other rotary graters. Better steel, has a locking mechanism to hold the drum in place All metal construction. I liked it so much I went ahead and bought two more from Amazon because the manufacturer’s website showed it was out of stock. I'm editing my original review because I'm seeing negative reviews about broken plastic rings etc and this item doesn't even have plastic parts. I think some vendor has been selling fake and not real items because the real mfg produces an excellent product with heavy duty stainless steel, no breakable plastic parts. People with those complaints should complain to Amazon and have those vendors removed. Read more

Cheap, badly fit, low gauge sheet stainless construction, from an unbranded manufacturer in china. Not even "Kuchenprofi", the german manufacturer. The drum's perforations are only in one size, and it's not the one in the photos either. They are hilariously small. Good for grinding parmesan. The build quality isn't even close to the advertised product. The neck of the plunger is just bent sheet steel around 0.7 mm in thickness. The tail of the plunger that forms a joint is the same, pathetically weak steel, not the thick, forged rods in the photos. The hopper is 0.85 mm gauge steel. As is the crank. There are no spot welds, except those holding the (0.6 mm thick) locking tab to the hopper, only folded/bent "tabs". This tool will no doubt die trying to survive the challenge of grating cheese. It can easily be destroyed in my hands. It is a cheap, uncraftsmanlike product, clearly made only to resemble a grater. Came with a dodgy potato peeler as well, for some reason. Definitely got sent the wrong product. The question is whether it was on accident or not. Read more

By far a quality product. The design is amazing. In my opinion and I cook a lot you will not find a better cheese grater anywhere. The quality is second to non from the ease of use to the cleaning and the amazing stainless steel no worries about getting pieces of plastic grated into you your food. Nothing better than fresh grated cheese when you want it at your finger tips. I bought this for my son as a gift and used his now I have to order another one for myself. Read more

I've had this grater for just about 2 months and have only used it a handful of times. Today while grating cheese for my chicken parm I realized the plastic washer type thing on the grater side had fallen off and grated in with the cheese! So I fed my family ground up plastic without realizing it. I have bought several plastic grinders but I decided to spend $60+ for this one because I thought it would last longer.
