One of my least favorite things to do in the kitchen is shred cheese, so I often enlist my husband to do it. This allows me to shred cheese quickly and easily on my KitchenAide. It’s of great value to me. The instructions are straight forward, just make sure the inner piece is fully attached before turning on the mixer. I made the mistake of not having it all the way attached the first time and cheese got mashed in between the pieces. I was able to clean it, just annoying. I’d recommend cleaning it right after using. It does come with a little adhesive hook and piece to hold the inner pieces when not in use but it doesn’t seem very functional. Very happy with this shredder attachment. It's easy to assemble and disassemble, slicing cabbage, grating block cheddar, carrots and zucchini with ease. I prefer to run on medium to medium-low speed to (same soeed as my old food processor slicer/grater) to easily direct the food into a bowl / plate. Raising the container to the grater helps make less mess, but this was also helpful with my old grater shredder. Love that it is dishwasher safe and comes out very clean. Most Kitchen Aide attachments are very pricey for what one gets. Most are plastic or have questionable fittings, etc. This is a different animal. This is a very good quality, all metal unit. It attaches pretty well to the fitting on the mixer, although it will need a bit of tightening if it is used for more than a few items at a time. The first week I had it, I shredded carrots, sliced potatoes and apples, squashed oranges (I needed skin and all for a particular recipe) and shredded hard cheese with absolute ease. It saved me tons of time. It washes very easily and they even included a handy brush for scrub-out cleaning. I would recommend this attachment to anyone with a Kitchen Aide mixer. I don't review things often. but since this little monster doesn't have any reviews at the time of writing this I felt the need to say how good this thing is. First, it really does look amazing. It's super shiny and has a heft to it. Most of the stainless steel is about 1 mm thick. The knob on the pusher feels like solid steel. Everything fits together and operates smoothly and feels sturdy. The cutter cylinders are quite sharp and chewed through the 2 pound block of cheese with ease. This was a huge upgrade from the Kitchen Aide brand cheese and vegetable slicer that had the white base and clear tube. The only downsides is that the feeding tube on top feels a little smaller than the kitchen aid one, but that isn't a problem for me. also, just like the kitchen aide slicer - you can't push things through it too fast or the cheese can sort of get stuck in the rotating cylinder and won't fall out. it's not a big deal for me though - just don't force things through it too hard. and besides, it's really only an issue with the fine shredder. I know the conical slicers solve this problem for other plastic slicers I have found on amazon and would be nice to see that on the next iteration of this slicer attachment. since I primarily use this for cheese - I would also love to see a square shaped feeding tube since most cheese come in rectangular blocks. Being this is made of metal and has a simple yet robust attachment for the slicer cylinder inside the cylinder hole (there is 6 bent tabs which lock the cylinder in place) - This is going to last a lot longer than my 2 year old and already broken kitchen aide brand slicer. I've used this to grate cheese and cabbage for slaw. It does such a good job for both. I have the Kitchen Aide shredder attachment, but I like this so much more. Solid stainless steel with no plastic parts. I'm sure I will be using this for a lot more. Highly recommend! Read more

I use grated cheese A LOT. I make pizzas at least 2x a week, which means grating lots of cheese. This will grate a large block of cheese in 1/4 of the time it took before. Even with the cleaning of the appliance I still spend less time on the cheese.. and cleaning is so simple! Not only is it dishwasher safe, it comes with this handy little scrub brush that makes cleaning by hand a snap. I have had for about 1 month now, and am impressed with the sturdiness, and ease of assembly and use. This attaches to my kitchenaid mixer with 30 seconds of work. It's easy to assemble. Solar, I have nothing bad to say. Definitely worth the price. And seeing how well it works, I would have even paid more for this device (and that's a big thing for me to say). Read more
