I use my tablet computer to record video for online classes I teach and as a camera lucida for creating precision drawings. For both of these purposes I need to position the tablet precisely and then lock it securely in position. I have tried a number of other stands and have tried using stuff around the house to hold the tablet with poor results. This stand is worth it. It is solid and well made. The spring loaded holder for the tablet (or phone) is easy to use and fits a wide range of sizes. All that said, let me offer some advice. The instructions that come with the product are a little incomplete. First of all, they are fairly specific about how to put the components together up until the point where you need to attach the part that holds the device to the stand. The instructions tell you to do that, but don't tell you how. It turns out that there is a rubber nut on the end of the stand that needs to be unscrewed and removed (it does not look like it should be removed). When you remove it, there is a screw inside that fits inside of the device holder head. Once you get that done, spend some time looking at the parts of this and understanding how they bend in relation to each other. One thing I did not initially understand was the knurled rings around the long rods of the stand. I wondered if they telescoped the rods, but that turned out not to be true. They do allow you to turn the rods if you loosen the ring. That is useful when positioning the tablet, but watch out because they are full of lubricant that will get on your hand. Depending on the weight of your device, you need to arrange the arms of the stand to get a reasonable balance, which takes a bit of practice, but that would be true with any of the stands out there. I bought this to hold my iPad on my treadmill. It is clamped to the vertical leg on the treadmill and is adjusted so that the iPad is at eye level when using the treadmill. I added put a bungee around the support bracket and leg for extra support as it fell off the first time I mounted it because I did not tighten the clamp correctly. The rubber pad must go beneath the round screw in the support bracket, not beneath the other side of the bracket (which already has a thin pad on it). The sections of the mount are adjustable 360 degrees by loosening, adjusting the tubes and retightening the threaded collars. Once everything is tightened snugly, the mount is quite stable. I have mine almost fully extended. I added a 2nd bungee that hold it tightly to the back of the treadmill to prevent vibration. I am impressed with the quality of this mount. It is very well made from all aluminum (except for the thumb-screw heads and a collar). The iPad is held tightly and securely by spring clamps on the long side of the iPad and has a space to plug in the charging cable. I almost bought one of the gooseneck mounts and am so glad that I spent a few dollars more and got this far sturdier mount. While it is easy to adjust, it might be a bit cumbersome and not be ideal where one would want to constantly adjust the iPad. For a set and leave it application, it would be great. Read more

KDD Tablet Desktop Stand Everything arrives well wrapped in a box, protecting the pieces from delivery handling. The instructions are clear as to how to put everything together. I did it easily even with nails! They even have instructions on how to use the arms and change the positioning...which I was able to figure out on my own, prior to reading the instructions... This Tablet/Phone stand is great in the way that it has a super long double jointed arm which can be moved in multiple directions! It has a much sturdier clamp than all of the other ones I have... so there's no risk of it falling off (and breaking your phone or tablet). It can clearly open up to hold something as small as a phone horizontally, (the direction of the phone can be changed vertically)...as well as a tablet vertically or horizontally! (Shown here!) The arms are adjustable so that they can go in multiple directions and angles! You can loosen and tighten to fix or adjust the way the arms bend. The negative is that it's not super easy to position because it's only back and forth not side to side...but that does make it sturdier and less likely to move after positioning. I also can't control the head (the part that holds the phone/tablet) from falling into place. There's no way to tighten or loosen the way that the phone/tablet is held up. So it won't always stay positioned how you want it...most of which you can work around and finagle until you're satisfied. Read more

Not the best quality. Not easy to adjust as set screws were very short. Light weight, not very thick tubing. Looked kinda goofy. Phone hold was sturdy. Could have been larger to accommodate larger tablets though. Read more

I found this arm exceptionally versatile and stable. Some months later, however, I encountered the failure that a few others have encountered: the thin arm of the last plastic ball joint cracked. Others have noted excellent customer service in replacing this part. I hope they come through for me! Update: the seller was extremely responsive, and sent me an entirely new tablet stand. The plastic arm/ball joint is no longer an element, and has been replaced by a much sturdier metal arm. Moreover, the seller was kind enough to guide me towards the purchase of another of their products that makes the arm even more capably hold an iPad pro. All around, I am extremely satisfied.
