KitchenAid K150 3 Speed Ice Crushing Blender with 2 Personal Blender Jars - KSB1332Y - Passion Red

My old Jamba blender had started leaking every time I used it and it started becoming a slacker at ice crushing so I started looking for a replacement. In researching this blender I came across this one with two smoothie blending cups. This meant that there would be a separate set of blades for smoothies and components could be easily cleaned or replaced if damaged. The cone-like shape of the cup helps draw the ice down so it doesn’t ride on top of the ingredients and the blade design prevents cavitation. It does such a good job chopping and blending the ice and frozen berries that preparation takes a fraction of the time AND effort than it did using my old blender. And the consistency is so much better! No ice or berry chunks, just a smooth refreshing drink without surprises. I do not drink out of the smoothie containers so they will last longer and be less subject to possible breakage, but that is a matter of personal preference. The separate smoothie blade unit and the drive system in the base are made of some sort of polycarbonate that seems pretty tough. The decorative base exterior is plastic, even though it appears to be metal in the pictures so be careful how you handle it. It’s difficult to tell how well it will hold up its finish. Mine is the shiny red finish. It is available in several colors and shiny or matte finishes, the latter probably being more resistant to showing fingerprints. I wanted a personal blender for smoothies. I tried two other inexpensive brands. Disappointing and a waste of money! And I went to what I knew I should have done in the first place. Was looking for a reasonably priced blender to replace a Kitchen Aid one that had "run its course". This model is efficient and very attractive. Jar size not too big, perfectly suits my needs. This blender is easy to use; it's foolproof really. It does a great job of making smoothies and chopping ice. The tumblers that come as part of the set are the perfect size for my drinks. the large container is perfect for quarts of soup. It is sturdy; it doesn't dance across the counter when it is turned on. I also love that it is red. Read more

For 200 bucks, which I did some research and this model used to be 150, this blender is a hard disappointment. I use frozen berries, yogurt, a banana and some oat milk and just a couple small ice cubes and this thing struggles hard for like 10 minutes just to make a smoothie. Forget about powders I have to add those like halfway through or else it struggles more. Pretty frustrating as I am not rich I was just trying to better my health. Plus the pitcher is plastic which I should have read the litany of the description first but I was hoping it was glass. Plus the blades dont come out of the bottom it looks like without a socket for cleaning. For 200 bucks this thing should rip through frozen berries, especially since I add a liquid too. Finally replaced my 10 year old Kitchen Aid blender and wow, this one is much more quite and does a fantastic job of crushing ice for protein drinks and also blending frozen fruit for my smoothies. Fantastic blender! Read more
