Had a foldable chuck-it and regular chuck-it, after using this will never go back. They are sore of bulky to carry throughout a walk. There is also something about the design in the chuck it’s that always gave me “fetch elbow” if you have a fetch obsessed dog like we do. This ball thrower collapses conveniently in my "dog park" backpack. So it's always available when my dog wants to play catching balls, without having to carry the thrower in my hand the entire time. It extends very easily. Once fully extended, it is very rigid and remains firmly extended, due to the friction of the conic segments. It is very lightweight, but feels solid enough to throw without moderation. The lack of flexibility is not a problem. Most of the time, it collapses easily, just by pushing on both ends. But occasionally, it remains stuck extended. To overcome the friction in that case, I find that giving a few moderate taps on the cup works better than pushing harder. Works as described, it does not stay in the short position just as an FYI, it will fly out into the long position when throwing, it does stay in the long position when pressing down and picking up the ball during fetch which is the only thing I really care about. I wanted something contractable and the ball pouch to go over the top sold me because my dog slobbers all over that thing and I don’t want to put it in my bag or pocket without it. We’ll see how it holds up to a dog biting the end when you go to pick up the ball, but I like it. It folds up nicely, but the plastic is to cheap, the head that holds the ball snapped of throwing the ball. After fixing the head, two weeks later the bottom handle fell off the end of the stick. Read more
