Durable, entertaining, nothing to accidentally ingest (not clinical proven, but I stand by this)

Kathleen MatschkeJuly 29, 2025

My dog loves this lil thing... For every other toy with size options, I always go for the "large" category (dog is a ~70 lb pit bull), but this is one of the only toys she's ever had where she seems to prefer one size smaller ("medium"). I think it's because she likes to kinda throw her toys out of her mouth into the air and then jump on them when they land (yep, it's cute ngl), and the largest size is a little too bulky / heavy for her to toss around. Plus, she likes the squeaky noise, and the largest one takes a little more force to squeak it than the medium. Other than that, it's pretty durable. She still gnaws on her toys every now and then, and this one holds up well. Usually takes a long while before she starts ripping the first pieces off. Once she does get it started, she usually finishes it off pretty quick after that. It stops squeaking once she gets one of the ends off and exposes the inner connecting tube part in the middle. Then she just rips out the tube in there, and that's my cue to toss it. One of the nicest things about this toy is that I don't have to worry too much about her swallowing anything that could cause digestive problems. The rubber tends to rip off in large chunks that she immediately spits out, so it seems less risky than the toys with cloth or stuffing. I have no idea how this toy squeaks to be honest, but they managed to do it without putting one of those tiny little squeaker sack-like things inside the toy. Those always make me nervous since they can be easily swallowed, but I really don't think there's a lot that could possibly go wrong with this one. Gives me peace of mind knowing that she can chew on this thing as long as she wants and will never pull off anything that could pose a risk to her safety/health. Pricier than other brands that look similar, but this one is worth the extra few bucks in my opinion. It's made of very thick but flexible rubber so it lasts a long time. It doesn't seem to pick up dust or hair or anything so it stays relatively clean despite rolling all over the ground and dog bed while covered in slobber... and you can just wash it off with water if you want to. I usually keep 2-3 extra stocked up at all times so I always have a replacement handy, and she always has one available. she usually goes through one every ~3-6 months, but that's a pretty long time for her honestly. For what it is, they clearly put a lot of thought into every part of the design, but the smallest details make a huge difference... As an example, there are cap pieces on each end with these interlocking grooves around their edges that tightly secures their junction with the rubber shell. These interlocking pieces flex with the toy and won't lose their seal whenever the cap pieces bulge outwards. Read more

An AWESOME Toy!!

JourneymanJanuary 17, 2016

Man, these toys are a LIFESAVER!! I've looked absolutely EVERYWHERE for a "squeaky toy / ball" that my dog could spend hours playing with. Now... before anyone says "Wait... hours?", given the numerous people who are disappointed in how fast these types of toys seem to get destroyed, lol... let me just firstly say that I do NOT let my dog have his way with this toy, unsupervised, to chew on to his heart's delight. I think it kind of goes without saying that virtually ANY toy will be destroyed quite quickly by any dog that enjoys to chew / is an aggressive chewer (like my Corgi)... but especially if it has "parts", like a squeaker. Typically, if I give my dog a stuffed animal-type toy that has a squeaker or noise-maker, my dog will have the noise-maker ripped out of the toy in a couple of minutes.... & I left there saying, "Well, there goes another 5-10 bucks, in less than 2 minutes", lol. So... since my dog is such an aggressive chewer, I have changed a couple of habits in his playtime routine that not only allows him to have his fun, but occasionally gets me involved as well: & ALL dogs LOVE to spend some "fun" time with their owners / family anyway. For my dog's own, personal enjoyment, he gets chew-bones (or similar), to chew on to his heart's content... but these (& other) squeaker toys are reserved for when my dog and I play catch & fetch (or some other game; he REALLY likes "hide & seek" with the squeaker toys, lol). I have tried DOZENS of different types of squeaker toys; some shaped like animals or "pac-man" (lol), & others like this toy (a ball)... all of which either have been punctured & can no longer draw air for the "squeak", or others which have had the squeaker itself punctured &/or damaged. Since this ball is uniquely designed to conceal & protect both the squeaker & method it uses to draw air, it has lasted (so far) longer than any other toy I've bought for my dog. Bottom line... if "you" (anyone) gives a toy like this to a dog, unsupervised, to chew on to their heart's content, don't be surprised if you walk into the room 5 minutes later to see him / her chewing on the last couple of pieces of what was once a toy, lol. But, if like me, "you" provide your dog with SOME toys (or chew bones) that are specifically made for aggressive chewing, and reserve these types of toys for your own play-time with your dog, I think you'll find that these toys not only last MUCH, much longer, but you might even find a little more enjoyment in the days you choose to play with your "little buddy"!! **As a last tip, I take these Kong-balls & place them into an old sock, then tie a simple knot around the sock / ball. This accomplishes 2 things: (1) It keeps my hands / fingers from getting drool-logged (lol) from my pooch's slobbering, drooling lake of a mouth (every time I touch the toy)... & (2) It adds a little more "chew protection" around the toy, to possibly prevent it from being ripped or punctured too deeply.** If anyone is interested, I might add some pics later of how I conceal this toy in an old sock... or even of my dog's "very happy" face (lol), after an hour, or so, of play!!
