Firstly and most importantly, always ALWAYS sterilize your instruments before and after a trimming session. Secondly, take the time to soak your feet before starting. This will make the clipping a lot easier. This kit has everything you need to do it yourself, and get it right. If your a first timer a doing it yourself, take your time, it's not as easy as when someone else is doing it for you, because their arms are not attached to your body. Overall, has definitely improved my quality of life. Ingrown nails plague me constantly and this has certainly helped me extract them better than whatever I could scavenge around my house.
