I occasionally build epoxy river tables, and when I saw this, I had to have it. Why? Because it's all natural, solid wood with 2 natural edges on each long side. Thus, the plan is to saw this table in half length-wise right down the middle, then flip the sides around so the natural edge is on the inside, but with a gap in between the pieces, and then fill it with epoxy. As a matter of fact, this is going to save me a ton of time versus using unfinished live-edge wood, because I won't have to plane and sand everything smooth, it's already finished. All I have to do is cut it and build the mold. Also, the legs that comes with it are pretty decent, but I have a set of electric standing-desk legs from WALKINGDESK that I'm going to put on this, which should make it an extremely versatile table. If you decide to use the legs that come with it, they are decently made and look all right, overall, but they're just a little plain for my taste, which is why I decided to go with a set of adjustable legs for it. The top is very nice, and as I said, it's real solid wood which is very thick, and very well finished. It's extremely smooth and the wood grain is beautiful, but the great part about this table being real wood, is if you don't like the color or you get tired of it later on down the road, you can always sand it down and re-finish it whatever color you like. The color it comes with is pretty natural and is only a clear coat of some kind which they claim to be waterproof. Haven't tested that yet, but I'll probably end up shooting a few extra coats of urethane on it when I'm all done. I might even stain it a bit darker, we'll see what happens when I get it out in the workshop. Putting it together is a piece of cake, but make sure you keep the cardboard box around to lay it on while you put the legs on it, so you don't scratch the top. Carpet would be fine, too. Once the legs are on, an extra pair of hands is helpful to flip it over, especially in close quarters, as it is on the heavy side, being a big, thick piece of solid wood and all. In all, I think it has a good value because while it may be more expensive than going out and buying a piece of live-edge / natural-edge wood for a project, this saves me a TON of time planing and sanding raw natural lumber down to a finished product. All I have to do is sand down where the epoxy is going to touch and it'll be ready to mold up and pour it. That's hours and hours of work it'll save me, so I think it has great value for a piece of wood this nice. 5 stars. Read more
This is an extremely heavy desk table, which was exactly what I was looking for. It's not a cheap, hollow-core desk; this is a very substantial and durable piece of 'executive' furniture. The "Solid Wood" top is impressively thick and robust, and the "Sturdy Metal Base" provides a rock-solid foundation with zero wobble. My main reason for getting this was that I have heavy monitor stands and arms that need a heavy-duty table to attach to, and this was perfect. The thickness of this desk was ideal for the C-clamps, and it supports the full weight of multiple monitors without any issue. My previous desk was bowing severely under the weight, but this one is completely rigid and stable. It functions perfectly as a durable computer desk and looks great in the 'Tan' finish. An A+ product for anyone needing a heavy, reliable work surface. Read more
I've been using this for close to 2 months now in my backyard deck. It's my go to office space in the outdoors. The desk is made from solid 2x4s that have been glued/attached together to form a solid slab. The edges have been routed to give a slab appearance. All of the top and edges have been finished and stained. The bottom appears to only be sanded with no coats/protection. I ended up adding some water proofing to the bottom so that it would be usable outdoors. The legs are are made from a thin gauge metal while the portion that mounts to the slab is much thicker. The black coating appears pretty resilient and has not been impacted by any morning dew. The desk sits a very comfortable height which fits with most of my chairs. The table was very easy to assemble and works perfectly. Just keep in mind this desk is heavy. I do have a couple gripes; one is the leg material is pretty thin and two is the finish on this can be damaged with any type of acrylic solvents. I accidentally dropped some miniwax on the top edge and it melted the finish a bit. This are small gripes considering the very competitive price. Read more
This is the best gaming desk I've ever had. The wood is extremely high quality and has a beautiful clear finish. This will look beautiful anywhere and could even be used a dining room table. It was packaged very well and had lots of foam and sturdy material inside the box to keep it from getting damaged. The installation is honestly extremely easy, we're talking 2 legs & 12 bolts and that's it. You'll probably spend more time unpacking it. The wood thickness is 2" I measured it myself. As you can see in the pictures the edge has a natural "unfinished" look with curves and bends. The legs are metal and feel very well built. I've had gaming desk that wobble before, and this is definitely not wobbly. It's solid. You can still mount monitor arms, mics, and anything else even with the curves in the wood. It's perfect for a gaming desk. I really couldn't be happier with the quality. I've been gaming on this for about a month and love it. I would recommend coasters for drinks. If you do spill a drink the wood has a finish that makes cleanup easy and it won't absorb into the wood, it is also scratch resistant. Read more
