I had a Kuerig Rivo, which was not a K-Cup brewer, but was a partnership with Lavazza espresso/latte only maker with pods similar to the expert pods. I LOVED that machine. Unfortunately, Kuerig stopped making the compatible pods. So I picked up this. The good news is that the resulting coffee is still good. And in the end, everything I say after this is probably worth living with if you want home espresso coffee that is better and cheaper than Starbucks. However it must be said that this machine is quite lacking compared to my Rivo. It costs less too, so you have to normalize for that, but even at that, this machine cuts some really questionable corners, like not having a sensor to detect if the water is empty, or even that the water tank is attached. Yes, it will happily try to brew coffee without water. It will also attempt to brew with the pod door open. It makes me wonder what other quality corners were cut. Other quibbles include that the tank and used pod bin are REALLY small and have to be changed every 3-4 cups, although I will at least forgive that as a tradeoff for the smaller counter footprint -- this is sold as a "mini". Ultimately, quibbles aside, it does the job, and the pods and coffee it produces are top notch, so it's probably worth living with the flaws, but this could have been a much better product if they had made it $15 more and made a more robust machine. The coffee is strong and has a nice creamy top. The quality from a K cup type system is as good as any high end home or commercial cappuccino or expresso machine which, I am very impressed with. The problem is the machine only lasts at best a year. The machine is only $120 so I just buy a new one and stay with the brand. Read more
