In the hot summer months, we wash all of our down pillows and down jackets with Le Blanc Down Wash. Check your down comforter to see if it is washable. If washable, comforters need to be washed and dried in a large commercial machine. For pillows, I wash two at a time with La Blanc Down Wash. I generally soak the pillows as part of the washing process in my machine and do an extra rinse. Take the pillows after washing and place two into the dryer on low temp for about 2 hours. Take the pillows outside and hang them on a line in the sun for 2 hours. Turn them upside down after one hour so they are evenly dried. Make sure you turn the side that was not in the direct sun to the sun side. Then return to the dryer on low temp until really dry. After you take them out let them cool and test to make sure they are dry. So fluffy and they smell wonderful. Worth the effort. A similar procedure for down jackets except we hang them in the sun for 30 minutes and then in the shade. PS. Le Blanc Laundry Wash takes the rings of men's shirt cuffs and collars. Pour on cuffs and collars and then gently wash and dry. We take the shirts to the cleaners for a second wash and press and the cleaner always says the cuffs and collars are so clean. Read more

Our dear cat urinated right in the middle of my expensive, dry clean only, down comforter. I used a product specially made for pet urine to attempt to clean that mess up. Then moved on to getting my hubby's yellow sweat stains out of the comforter. (I had been agonizing about what to do regarding those sweat stains until the cat made up my mind for me. I figured the comforter was ruined so what the heck, might as well experiment.) I used a mixture of Oxiclean and water on some of the stains, and baking soda and vinegar on other places. The stains stayed exactly as they were. Feeling discouraged, I just let the whole mess sit overnight then took it to the laundromat the next day to clean in a big front loading washer. I used the Le Blanc Down Wash with a vinegar rinse and wouldn't you know ALL THE YELLOW STAINS AND CAT URINE were GONE! I dried the comforter using a couple of down rings and a tennis ball to fluff it up and it's as good as new. Left a really pleasant faint smell of freshness in the comforter. In case you are interested, not one feather leaked from that comforter through this whole ordeal. It's a batiste fabric covered, 800 fill light weight comforter which sells at Bloomie's for $800 (king). Wait until it goes on sell for half price to buy one. Read more

This down wash seems to work quite well to remove skin oils, dirt and leaves the washed item soft and obviously cleaner (you can see the difference) without stripping the natural oils. In bulk it is quite cost effective, not that there is much competition at this quantity of cleaner. The only real complaint I have is that the scent of newly washed items is very strong, though this will fade in time. Please, could you (manufacturer) offer an UNscented choice, as I would readily purchase it in bulk. (As I suspect many other customers would) I’ve given this product a four star review, but it really deserves a five… If it weren’t for the heavy scent. Read more

We washed 7 down pillows 5 large to small, three large down quilts plus two 0 degree sleeping bags. They all came out bright and clean and puffy just the way you want down to be. Even though I have a tendency to over use the amount of the product and I did use hotter water than what they recommended but for the money it's a great product and it does the job. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than buying the little bottles of (you know what brand ) that you' used to wash a down coat you be the judge I recommended it Read more

I use different products for this and so far this is the best that I’ve used… I chose the non-fragrance because there are all allergies in my family… the end result was a very fresh and clean down comforter, with an even better loft, and the cotton of the comforter itself was cleaned perfectly, and like the feathers the fibers were cleaned and perfectly intact Read more

We have a bit of down in our family. Six down jackets and four down sleeping bags means we can go through some down wash. While we don't wash the equipment too frequently. The little bottles of Nikwax were becoming a bit too costly for us, so I did some research and found this. It does just as well as the name brand and is cheaper and comes in bigger volumes. Done and done. Read more
