I got a new (to me) refrigerator in my apartment and it didn't come with an inside light. Not the most necessary thing, for sure, but something you miss after having for so long. Finally, about 3 years later (lazy, yes, I know), I decided to get a lightbulb for my refrigerator. This one delivered. It's nice and bright, but now I can see the parts of my fridge that I missed cleaning without the light. :) Basically, it's a lightbulb. Ok, so I'm going to write a review on a frigg'n light bulb. These are actually very cool -- especially since I installed them both in our freezer. The bright white color even seems to make my ice cubes colder :P I'm going to have to purchase more of these because since the light now in the freezer looks so good, I am going to have to replace the ones in the refrigerator so they match. Had decided to give this brand a try when it came to replacing a burnt out 'old style CFL' 40w in my 30 yr old Kenmore side by side fridge/freezer ... this being a pair why not change out both since the other will probably soon burn out anyways AND so the color rendering (brighter white) match. End result had been a great choice. First they had arrived like they were stored right down the street - no less due to Prime delivery. Thou these bulbs were NOT without issue ... one on the fridge side did NOT seat properly (far enuff into the socket) to make contact. The freezer side had been fine. Once installed ... the difference was a sight for sore eyeballs in how much whiter they had appeared. Thou the sizing dimensions were correct ... the problem is with the neck of the LED style (the added ring) prtrudes farther out making the neck of the bulb wider SO it doesn't fully seat deep enuff ... result - inoperable. AND what else ... during the install found there were actually '2' bulbs in each compartment and the lowers had already fizzled out some time ago to which musta forgot all about replacing ... so actually had been in need of 3. After trying one of these LED bulbs in those sockets ...all 3 had accepted em and lit (only the one had not). SO having remembered (due to past experiences) with LED equivalents ... many if not all have the added ring and can cause contact issues due to deeper sockets. Did a search and had found the remedy ... 'socket extenders'. Of course this adds to total cost which even thou isn't breakin the bank the overall cost inc bulbs becomes more like 5x's or more than simply replacing with old style CFL style bulbs. Sure u get the cost of juice savings BUT in reality how long r appliance bulbs lit during a full years of usage ... like maybe an hour or so (so u save maybe a few bux a year). Then theres the added convienance of lasting longer ... thou in same context ... the old lasted many a year and yea when LED's first hit the shelves they may've out did the CFL ... thou not so in past few years due the myriad of off brands and budget copycat manufacturers. Not sayin the ones here r cheap junk ... but they're also NOT a perfect match of the high priced name brand equivieants as with anything on the market nowadays. That issue lies in the mass brainwashing of society to convert or do without ... in essence the so-called upgrade 'costs more' period. Now back to this item ... once the new LED bulb had been installed into the new extender ... worked perfect. The extenders chosen were short ... only potruding 1 1/2" so no issue resulted in space nor lighting emitted. Now all r shining bright when either doors opened. The whiter lights the main bonus of the LED ... this ones value is when compared to similar stated bulbs and in the longetivity dept. for which can't b determined 'for now'. SO zoomed back to the order page n' did a quick reorder ... again which had been recieved within the same time frame. Read more
