This game literally changed our lives.

My son got this for his 7th birthday. It was almost an afterthought and wasn't very expensive because the newer version has come out. I might as well have skipped the other gifts as he hasn't played with any of them. This was his first real exposure to anything Star Wars but now he is as obsessed as anyone. Best of all, for the first time in his life, I have some leverage. We have been able to address some ongoing behavior issues by allowing him to earn time to play Lego Star Wars. No other toy or activity was ever interesting enough to really work for a reward system. That is how much he loves this game. He wakes up in the morning and gets dressed like lightning so he can have a few minutes to play - no more dilly-dallying. He is good all day at school because he knows if I get a good report from his teacher, he can play an extra 20 minutes. I do limit his screen time so the rest of the time when he's not playing the game, he's drawing pictures of the game, making up stories about it, reading books about Star Wars, and making his own light-sabers out of whatever is available. We have quite a few Wii games at our house, and they have all been played and enjoyed, but none have come close to this one in popularity. In fact, I might as well sell the rest of our games. As far as the game itself, from a parent's perspective I like it because it's not really very violent. My son is very sensitive to violence and scary movies. He has nightmares after scooby doo. But a colleague told me this game wasn't very violent and he was right. Since all of the characters are made of legos, they will fall apart but then get put back together. Another bonus is the cooperative play. At any time while my son is playing, my daughter can pick up a remote and join in. They are working cooperatively and have to stick together. This does result in a little squabbling sometimes, but it's good for them to have to work things out and cooperate and it's great that she can play for a bit and then leave without messing up the game because she's not nearly as obsessed about it as her brother. I also like that it shows a lego version of what happens in the movies pretty much scene by scene. I finally let him watch the first STar Wars movie (episode IV I guess is what it's called now) and he recognized pretty much every scene. This is great because he won't be allowed to see episodes 1,2 and 3 for a couple of years and he's fine with that because he knows what happens from the game. The lego scenes are hilarious too, especially the one that shows Luke and Leia being born. All in all, this is a great way to introduce your kids to Star Wars and it is an extremely engaging game which requires kids to problem-solve and cooperate. If you don't already have this version, I can't imagine what the newer version could do better so don't waste your money. Also, I figure once he gets through every level, he will eventually want another challenge so we will have the other game waiting for us. Read more

Star Wars is brought to life!

This game is really fun. You can move the wii remote and then the lightsber strikes. You get to act out the characters and destroy the enemies. This the one of the best games I've ever played. If you really like star wars, and you have a wii, then this is the kind of game you'd want to have. This game is like you are actually fighting in real life. Although I would recommend watching all the star wars movies before playing, it would be more of a challenge to find out on your own. The more challenging it is, the more fun it is in my opinion. In Mos Eisley Cantina, you can watch video clips from star wars in lego form. You can also buy new characters, create your own characters, buy hints, enter codes, and explore the Cantina. If you like one specific mission, then you can do it over again, but with a different character. Say you bought Darth Maul. If you wanted to do a mission again, but as a different person, then you can play as Darth Maul. I would higly recommend getting this awesome game. It has everything, like action, stuff to figure out in your mind, and much much more. Read more

Hilarious!

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga has so much going for it. It's an incredibly fun game for a fraction of a regular Wii game price. It combines the Lego and Star Wars franchises, two of the most popular amongst boys. It combines the fun action of Star Wars and creativity of Lego. The gameplay feels almost like the Force Unleashed, with swinging lightsabers and the graphics aren't too bad, even though they're over 5 years old. Best of all, it's absolutely hilarious. Unlike most Star Wars games, which are obsessed with continuity, Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga is refreshingly irreverent. There are moments in the game when you spot characters doing something totally, well, out of character. On Tantive IV for example two Stormtroopers in bathing suits lounge in one of the escape pods. In the "level select" area of the cantina, you can start a brawl. Best of all, you can buy over 100 more characters and use them on levels. These include not just Vader and Han Solo, but the Gonk droid and Droideka! Imagine replaying the entire Star Wars saga as an Ewok! The possibilities are endless. Overall, this is an extremely fun game for both kids and adults, Star Wars and Lego fans. Read more

Did NOT work!! Is NOT New!!

Customerβ€”May 29, 2018βœ“ Verified purchase

I never write reviews, but feel I must, after this negative experience... I have purchased several Wii games through Amazon Prime, and I have never had any issues--- until now... This game did NOT work! We tried many things to get it working (resetting the Wii console, updating the Wii system, etc), and had no success; yet, all of our other games continue to work. Then, upon further examination of the package, it became very apparent that we did NOT receive a New game, as was advertised; while it came wrapped in plastic, the white case seemed somewhat dirty, there was residue from a sticker that had been removed (maybe an official seal?- see the circle-shaped outline at the bottom-left of my pic.), there was no manual inside the case with the disk, and the disk had visible scratches from prior use. I feel like I have been a victim of a scam, but the worst part was the disappointment on my 8 year old nephew's face--- he loves Star Wars, and this was a birthday gift; he was so sad that it did not work, and I felt so bad that I had let him down with this purchase... Buyer Beware--- Do NOT buy this product!! Read more
