The high back design is very comfortable and provides great support, even when sitting for long periods. Very comfortable chair! So comfy in fact, I did not even get to sit in it this past week! We “camped” with 2 other couples, one of which stayed in a lodge and did not have chairs, so we brought extra chairs for them. They knew these chairs were brand new straight from the box, and they decided these were their favorite chairs of the 6 that were available! After we finally got to sit in them, we agreed; these are very comfy chairs. Marvelous back support, which is the main reason we were in the market for new chairs in the first place. They do not sit too far back as many “bag” chairs do. They also do not have any bar under the thighs, so no discomfort there, either. I’m 5’7”, and I did not feel the backs were too tall for me (the wife in the other couple is shorter than I, and she was obviously comfy, too). Another nice feature is the shoulder strap on the chair itself so it can be carried easily without putting it in the bag. If you’ve ever struggled to keep a chair closed while trying to get it back into its bag, this chair solves that with a simple latch on the frame. I find the “cup holder” to be awkward as I don’t often use a can or disposable bottle; I use a reusable tumbler that fits only at an awkward angle, but the cup holder tucks under the chair and out of the way. I’ll just set up a small table nearby for my beverage. While the side pouches are a wonderful idea (our previous Captain-style chairs have them too) and very convenient, it becomes decidedly less handy when one is not sewn closed at the bottom, straight out of the box; that’s rather disappointing and the reason my rating lost a star. I don’t enjoy repairing things that are defective out of the box. If ordering the “twin pack”, be advised they are not packaged or even shipped together, but will have a single tracking number. So if only one chair arrives, you won’t know the status of the second chair without waiting 2-3 extra days (beyond the estimated arrival date) or sending a frustrated email to the seller. If the estimated arrival time is 3-7 days, do not truly expect delivery until at least day 8 or 9, and tracking info will say it’s still on the shipping dock in New Jersey until the day before the last “expected” delivery date. So, order before you need it, and be patient. I promise you, this chair (assuming it’s got all its stitching) is worth the wait. Read more
