Very nice TV- Recommend

Rob & RobertaFebruary 19, 2020

Bought the 43" for a BR location; already had a 55" LG of the current model year in the LR. Was QUITE worried reading all of the "arrived damaged" reviews, but it was packaged well. Arrived via UPS Ground, in a heavy-gauge brown corrugated overbox, from a Salt Lake City to Seattle UPS Ground trip. Overbox and Interior packaging was a mix of styrofoam blocks and thick bubblewrap guards at all 4 corners of the set. The interior (LG) carton itself was pristine upon arrival. The set and the LG remote seem basically identical to the 2019 model 55" set. We used the LG remote to put in all the settings, then paired our Xfinity remote to completely run the TV for daily use without any problem. With a good quality HDMI cable in use, the video and audio are impressive. For those who don't like LG's smart remote, the Wii-like pointer, which is definitely an acquired taste, can always be shut off by depressing the roller wheel on the remote. Instantly accepted the house Wi-Fi, which is a good thing as among other things the TV will take its own internal software updates that way. We didn't explore Alexa functionality. Great picture, and audio seems so far good enough that we might not need to add a soundbar later . Read more

Great connectivity, perfect for entertainment center, great picture

AndieJuly 15, 2019

I replaced an LG TV in my entertainment center from 2015 with this model. I use Apple TV. What a difference with connectivity! It has the same great picture as the previous TV, The remote is more user friendly. I can use both the LG apps and the Apple TV apps. It did take some time to initially connect to wireless network. I have You Tube TV, not cable. The new TV would not connect initially to the wireless network through the LG TV set up when I entered the network and password. I decided to go in the back door and set it up by entering my Amazon account information after clicking the Amazon button on the remote. I had to go online on my computer (to a specified address) and enter a number that appeared on the TV's screen. Once I entered the number, everything connected. The whirling beachballs (that showed up on my previous tv) have been reduced by 95%. My other two LG TVS that I bought in 2018 from Amazon ( 49 and 55 inch) connect great with You Tube TV. My entertainment center TV was a problem in the past because it is so far away from my modem / router. The connectivity technology has improved. The promps on the screen are better on the new TV. There is less to set up. As you can tell, I know very little about tech and this new TV works for me. Yay! Read more

Amazing picture and sound quality, includes Wired Ethernet and has great price

Mr AxolotlAugust 10, 2019

I replaced a slightly larger LG and am very happy with this purchase. I made a few minor SETUP changes otherwise it's pretty standard as it comes out of the box. It's about half the weight of the previous set. Easy setup. One odd thing is the LG Channels required me to set up Wifi specifics when I am using WIRED Ethernet for streaming. The extra channels are nice, similar to many free internet streaming channels with advertising. The SMART APPS do NOT include many major network apps (like PBS) which was surprising, so I continue to use my Roku box for most streaming apps. The"Magic Remote" is quite large and can use voice comands which I haven't used , it includes a cursor and up and down arrow keys for making choices. Going to and from different inputs is easy for example. Also for changing SETUP values. Closed captioning is done with two clicks. There is a Show GUIDE (similar to TV Guide} listing shows on all channels, now and future, also has a Notificatioin function to tell you when a show is about to start and will take you there at that time if you want. The only thing for me seems to be less sensitive antenna reception. Yes I still use free broadcast TV on occasion as I live not too far from a major city so making use of these channels for news and older tv shows is handy. But now some channels have disappeared or I have to move the antenna around a lot during the day as reception changes. Maybe because many people use cable and/or streaming services on air broadcasts are less important so this feature gets less attention. But everything in life has advantages and disadvantages and the advantages of this new set outweighs my particular disadvantages. I'm very pleased with the set, the big surprise was the price. It's been 8 years since my last tv which cost twice as much. Even though I'm not a PRIME member I got next day delivery. Read more

Amazon Alexa doesn't quite work yet

Sarah WMay 28, 2019

This is the first smart tv I’ve ever purchased and so far I’m pretty impressed. The magic remote is so responsive and can be used almost like a Wii remote— you point it at the screen and can move the cursor anywhere on the screen effortlessly. It also has a built-in microphone that you can use to ask Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa questions with. The picture is really clear and can easily be adjusted to your liking. It also has something called LG Channels that offers over 160 tv channels for free. That being said, they're not regular tv channels like ABC, NBC, or CBS, but rather channels that I've never really heard of... like the Allure Channel or various travel and food channels. This is a pretty nice feature for someone like me, who doesn't pay for cable and just uses Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. The reason I took off one star, however, is that Amazon Alexa didn't come built-in as advertised and isn't fully functional yet... you have to download the Amazon Alexa app from the tv and then set it up yourself. I got Amazon Alexa to work through the microphone built into the tv remote, but I still can't figure out how to get my echo dot to work with the tv (ex. "Alexa, turn the volume up on the tv"). Everything appears to be set up correctly, but my echo dot still doesn't want to work with this tv no matter what I do. I've hooked up my echo dot to other devices before with no issues, so I'm not quite sure why it doesn't want to work with this tv. I know that Amazon Alexa was a recent update/release to LG, so maybe the next time the Amazon Alexa app updates it will fix this issue. Overall it's a really nice tv, just don't expect Amazon Alexa to work perfectly with it (at least not yet). Read more
