Been using it for 5 years, it's the best investment I've ever made for productivity

RCFebruary 15, 2023

First of all, this monitor is not for everyone. There are people who prefer: 1) One monitor or small monitors because the get distracted if the screen is too big 2) Multiple monitors or large monitors because they get distracted if they don't see everything in one place I fall into the second category. Having terrible short term memory and an attention problem, this monitor has literally made a massive difference in my productivity. I use this as my main monitor mostly for coding, reading (Kindle app), editing photos and videos alongside with my other 3 side monitors that I use for browsing, todos, and terminal. I don't really play games so can't talk on that. The colors and the refresh rate are more than enough for anything else including watching movies. Some improvements that I'm expecting from my next monitor are: - Faster refresh rate > 120 Hz (current refresh rate is 60Hz) - Higher resolution 5k or 6k to make the text crystal clear (current resolution is 4k, I can still notice the edges of fonts which can be annoying when you get used to a Macbook Pro screen) - P3 color (The colors are not really suited for photo editing, but they are good enough) - No shadowing on the edges of the monitor (There is currently a tad bit of shadowing on the edges of the monitor, it's not a huge deal, but it would be nice if it didn't exist) - Better sounding speakers (The speakers are already good enough for day-to-day listening, better than the Macbook Pro speakers, but could be way better) - Draggable Picture-in-Picture position (The current PIP is static and it blocks the corner of the monitor, I sometimes connect the Apple TV and it would be nice if I can move it to a different position with the remove) - Lighter weight (The monitor is really heavy and requires a special arm https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0819BLM2Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) - Perhaps a little curve would be nice (It can sometimes be tiring to look at the edges and a slight curve can really improve the experience. Since this has the double height of 49" curved monitors, it would be the best monitor ever, especially for coding) If I find a 43" monitor that checks most of these boxes I'll upgrade in a heartbeat, but until then, this is my favorite monitor of all time. Massive high-quality screen realestate at a great price

DaveMSeptember 3, 2017

I was very nervous buying a 4K monitor because every one had a high percentage of negative reviews, making a purchase risky. Decided to go with this monitor because it is new (assumed LG learned from previous models), because it is LG (a top LED panel manufacturer that makes good to excellent products) and because it is huge. Size: Gambled the size would work and it is better than I dared hope. I usually have a half dozen or more screens active at any given time and ofter work with 3 or 4 simultaneously. With this monitor I can view them all and arrange them for greatest efficiency. The source doc goes in the middle and the multiple reference documents, sites, applications surround it as needed. Way better than the 2 HD monitors used prior - maybe twice the space. Occasionally have to move my head a bit to best view something in off to the side of the screen (can use the exercise!). Or can just drag the doc over a bit for a minute and put it back when done. I have it positioned about 2.5 feet away so not retinal-level resolution but as good or better than the 2 HD monitors I used to have in the same position. This monitor actually frees up a lot of desk space over the 2 much smaller monitors. Picture Quality: I do not see any issues people complain about in negative reviews - no shadow around the edge, no dark corners, no rainbow with white screen. Only issue so far is that dimensions are not perfect - it stretches the screen a tiny bit width wise making circles a bit off. I rarely notice it as an issue and have taken no steps to fix it yet. Will do when life slows down a bit. Speakers: Working well for conference calls and general but not great for music as they are mostly mid-range. Makes sense they can't have base in the monitor both for size and vibration. Speakers are a bonus as far as I'm concerned and these are great that way. Misc: The stand is heavy and puts the bottom of the viewable screen about 4 inches above desk surface which is perfect. Very solid and heavy. Comes with a remote to quickly adjust volume and brightness. I highly recommend this monitor for work or life. Read more
