With an ADHD family, visualizing time is invaluable. We've had lots of 'egg timers' that we've worn out the past few years. This little guy is our current favorite, not just for 'screen time' but also dividing up breaks and productivity sprints while doing homework etc. It's a cute color, accurate time, not too loud/grating sounding, has survived several falls to the floor, doesn't make any distracting ticking sounds, is a good hand size for kids, and it even sticks to the fridge with its little magnet. I use Pomodoro timers all day long for my writing work. This one works well and looks cute without being too cutsie. This one has 50s Sci-Fi vibes (but you could take off the "antenna" if you want). All the controls are on front, which I like. A pause/stop alarm button, and adjustments for no/low/loud tone and short/long alarm. Plus strong magnets and a hole for a wall hook in the back. Trying to minimize phone usage I wanted a kitchen timer for boiling eggs and also doubles as a reading timer for son’s homework. I like the sound settings for the timer and it’s not too loud or too quiet and the sound is not annoying like others. I was looking for something easy and it’s so quick to use! I love it! This timer is a great addition to helping kids “see” time, and is especially helpful to neurologically divergent individuals to stay on task. The magnet on the back is convenient and useful (we keep it on our fridge for easy access to help our kids out the door for school!) it seems to be of good quality so far, and the retro tv design is adorable. I still haven’t had a chance to use this timer, because my kids were with me when I opened it and they flipped out. They’ve taken it and use it for all sorts of things. Timing their reading steps, practicing their musical instruments, making sure everyone gets to play the switch for exactly the same amount of time, etc, etc. It came with the batteries in it, so they were able to start timing everything with it immediately. I would still kind of like to have a timer myself, so I may order another one. Read more
