These modern 21.5" brushed nickel finish lamps are gorgeous. Their base with the brushed nickel finish and minimalist lines paired with a linen shade makes them look contemporary and classical at the same time. These lamps are feature rich too, with three-way touch control dimming and USB A+C charging. They do not have traditional lamp-type switches to control the power, as they are touch-controlled, only. The power cord is a generous 1.5 meters long and features a transparent PVC cover to blend in with any decor. The USB charging ports work whether the lamp is on or off. As long as the lamp is plugged into an unswitched outlet, the USB ports are live and provide a 5V at 2.1A shared service. That is, it can charge one device at 2.1A or share the load amongst two devices simulaneously. My Samsung Galaxy sees either port as a fast, but not super-fast charging. This is fine for overnight charging and I prefer slower charging speeds to "super-fast." Finally, the lamps do include the bulbs and these are standard A19 shape with E26 base. These are replacable, just use a "dimmable" replacement, otherwise you'll get flickering. The lamps included are "daylight," in color temperature. Overall dimensions are: 21.5" tall, 12" widest at the shade base. Lamp base is a bit over 5.5" wide and it's 12" from tabletop to base of shade. The top of shade is about 11" making the 9.5" tall shade taper slightly. THE EXPERIENCE: The two lamps arrive in a single flat pack. Yes, you get to put them together. No the product description doesnt mention that "some assembly is required." At least, I don't think it does. Anyway, have no fear. Don't sweat it. It's very easy. You won't need any tools, except maybe a cutter to open the box as they use super-sticky tape and lots of it to secure the product box. Just don't depend on the "assembly instructions" to be of much help, but you shouldn't need them. A bit of common sense and past experience with table lamps is all you need. In fact, I put one together in less than five minutes, and that includes assembling the shade from a roll of shade material and two hoops. You get a 9 watt LED dimmable bulb for each lamp too. Once assembled, you will notice the craftsmanship and fine quality materials used. The sturdy and weighty lamp base features a mostly fingerprint-proof finish. I gave it a right going over to see if any particular place was more touch-sensitive than the others, yet I left no prints behind. I am sure CSI could lift some, but I didn't see any visible proof of my thorough "research." If assembled properly, the lamp is stable and sits level on a felt base to prevent scratches to furniture. The 1.5 meter long, transparent, PVC-covered cord blends in easily with the decor and my lamp features a polarized North American two-prong plug. My final thoughts: I love these lamps. They look classical, yet modern. They combine both trends seamlessly, and will look "at-home" anywhere you choose to set them. We are upgrading our guest room and as it has an eclectic style when I saw these lamps, I thought they might work to complement what was already in the room. Assembly of the shades is required. The oatmeal colored linen shade comes in a roll with 6 tiny silver clip hooks on each side. Two white metal rings the diameter of the finished shade are included for each shade, one with a bulb collar. Laying the linen strip flat, you have to get underneath these hooks with a fingernail or tiny flat head screwdriver to pry them up to press the rim of the shade ring underneath. Once you get started with two, the rest will clip more easily. Then you have to run your fingers along the hem of the shade to smooth it out evenly between the clip stations. The second ring was easier to attach once the shade had some shape. Once smoothed out, you would never distinguish this assembled shade from a store bought finished shade. I do have to say that the diagram could have been clearer as to which side the linen shade needed to be placed for which ring, as it does look as if there is a slight difference in diameter top to bottom. If there is a difference, I picked the right orientation as both rings fit exactly. The diagram also does not clearly show or state which direction to place the ring with the bulb collar. I had to stack on the ring with the color pointing up, then pointing down, etc. to figure out which ring went where. Of course it only can go one way, but if you haven't done this before, it's a bit of trial and error figuring it out and I didn't want to damage the shade's fabric. The color of the shades is a beige linen. I actually prefer the darker look to the stark white shades that I am seeing everywhere right now. The lamp base is sleek, simple and includes a USBA and USBC charging port on the reverse of the base. The lamp turns on by touching it anywhere on the lamp base. Each touch acts as toggle to change the light color from warm, to a neutral to a cool tone. The included bulb is a 3 way bulb similar to the LED 3 ways we have on hand. Their lumens are equivalent to a 40, 60 and 100 watt incandescent bulb but are only 14 watts. This fixture can take up to a 60 Watt bulb. Even on its brightest setting, in a dark room, the light is not bright enough to read by. It is more of an accent light because of the darker shade with the included bulb. Once assembled and in place, the lamps are lovely as shown in the listing photos, especially when placed on the ends of a sofa table or long server. They are a versatile style and can work in most modern or transitional spaces. The quality of the lamp base is excellent. it is well finished with a brushed gold finish and I had no trouble changing the lighting options moving from place to place on the lamp itself to toggle the next option. If you like the style of these lamps and don't mind a bit of a challenge in assembling the shades, they are an excellent quality. If you located 3000 lumens LED bulbs, the wattage would still be below 60 watts and they would be bright enough to serve as bedside lamps. Read more
