Ive had this product for three whole days and I would normally NEVER even entertain the thought of writing a review of a nutrition product this quickly but this stuff is amazing. I bought this to help my hair as I've had some loss and thinning that im very self conscious about. Now, my hair has seen no noticeable difference, of course, because its only been 3 days. I have my before photos taken and im patiently waiting to take the next set of hair photos in 4-6 weeks for comparison. But you know what has already changed? My skin. In three short days my skin is NOTICEABLY softer. Im absolutely flabbergasted. Just completely blown away by this. And it gives me wonderful hope for my hair because if im already noticing the effects of this collagen in THREE DAYS, that means it is absolutely nourishing my body and I firmly believe I will see results in my hair over time. Ill update on that part if I remember. Based on the reviews, I was kinda worried about taste and smell, but I can assure you this product is both tasteless and scentless. I mix the beyond collagen into my coffee or my bone broth each morning and it hasn't changed the flavor, texture or scent of the drinks. Its super easy to take. This collagen supplement had everything I was looking for (all 5 types of collagen from multiple sources) and clearly the dosage is an appropriate strength, given the immediate results. Im so excited to see what a month of taking this will look like and I absolutely will be a repeat customer. Read more
Edit at 1 month: let me get the results portion of this update out of the way and just say that it's no miracle worker, but my skin is looking better. I can't 100% attribute it to supplementing with this collagen powder, because I do use a good moisturizer and encapsulated retinol serum (if you're here for skin concerns, there's an affordable "resurfacing retinol serum" - use those exact words in your search - that DOES work miracles and comes highly recommended). That said, despite all of the dry air from weather changes and furnace use at home and at work, my skin is not drying out and I do have fewer fine lines. Again, could be the collagen or could be my beauty routine (also, "snail mucin repairing moisturizer" by a Korean company). I also have not had a single cold sore. *knock HEAVY wood!* (I'm not superstitious, but when it comes to cold sores, I'm not taking any chances.) I have been supplementing with lysine the entire time, and have never taken a single dose of this collagen powder without the lysine (I open two 500mg capsules and dump them in with the collagen). I do have to mention that what has been more noticeable than any effects to my skin has been the effect on my joints. I'm 41, and due to my build (I'm...top heavy with a much smaller waist and hips), I get frequent back pain, and that seems to have improved. I can't definitively say it's the collagen, because it could be due to some other lifestyle factors (I recently lost the 15lbs I gained due to peri-menopause after I began hormone replacement). So, thus far, I think it's worth the investment; however, because of the Black Friday sales, I'm using a different brand this month. Hopefully, I won't come to regret it, because I've tried this particular brand and I like the results. If the brand I'm using this month nets any adverse effects, I'll be back to update again and buy more of this brand. Original review: I don't know WHY I didn't consider the need for a measuring method prior to buying this, but I didn't. Luckily, I have a kitchen scale, but unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to be as precise as "10.4 grams", and I feel like the company knows that and it's a sneaky way to ensure they're never held at fault (if something bad happens, they'll just say you took too much and/or your scale was faulty) or if you get no benefit, they'll say you didn't take enough, because you only took 10 grams. I don't like that at all, and it gives me concern that they would set such a random serving size, considering medication dosages vary by weight and body surface area. Anyway, I won't know how this product affects me for a while, because I just started using it today, but I have one gigantic concern I want to share here, because I didn't research it enough before buying, and then I saw the arginine content. That concern is: COLD SORES! If you didn't know this before, let me shed some light on why that's a concern. Collagen is a protein, and like all proteins, it is made up of amino acids. One of those amino acids is arginine. I won't say this amino CAUSES cold sores, because the medical field has such a difficult time just coming right out about it, but it IS a risk. The wise thing to do is to balance your arginine intake with another amino: lysine. Lysine is also found in collagen, but not in the ratio you need to balance out the arginine. If you have a history of cold sores or herpes simplex of any kind, I STRONGLY suggest you supplement lysine if you're going to try collagen powder. As for me, I'm not only pouring two 500mg lysine capsules (I'm not taking any chances) in with my collagen serving, but I'm also using a lip balm that contains docosanol, lysine, and lemon balm until I know how this will affect me. Hopefully, Amazon will do the right thing and leave my review alone in the interest of customer transparency. I'm trying to be HEALTHIER - not sick with cold sores - as I imagine any potential buyer of this product would be. Back to this particular product, I will say that I cannot taste it in my coffee. It might be more detectable in other drinks, but coffee definitely forgives all flavor sins. I'm also not sure how well it will mix with something cold, because colder fluids are likely to make it difficult to dissolve, and it might be...chunky. So, I definitely suggest a warm or hot drink for delivery. This particular collagen product has all the types of collagen you'd be looking to supplement for skin, hair, nails, and joints (I, II and III), and none of the ones that could potentially lower the concentrations of the "good" ones. Time will tell! I'll be back to either rave about how fantastic my skin is looking or advise others go in search of another product. Hopefully, it's the former. I know I'm not out here buying products just to talk smack about them. lol Read more
