My favorite webcam
I own two of these now. I bought the first one a few years ago because I needed a good microphone for my home computer for voice calls, video conf, and gaming (discord etc); just as a microphone alone it was totally worth it. Extremely good quality in both the construction of the device and how it works; it's logitech so it has great driver support. Always in focus, always good picture quality (from the camera - not always once it goes through zoom or whatever to somebody's Starbucks wifi connection). Automatic backgrounds work just fine with it. I bought the second one to take to the office when the one in my laptop started getting flakey. Once again, excellent product. Crystal clear teleconf. 720P resolution is _excellent_ for teleconf; you don't need more. Most programs (teams, skype, zoom) aren't even going to pass through 720P, the little video windows you see when you're in a conf are way smaller than 720P, and this is all assuming you've got a super good connection and aren't getting artifacting anyways. One quibble, just because it's always good to have one: the adjustable arm that holds it onto the monitor works better on slightly older, thicker monitors. It's slightly less grippy on the newer, thinner monitors. However, this really doesn't make any difference. It just means that if your cat jumps onto your desk and bumps your monitor, the webcam might need to be readjusted. The position is really determined by the way that it hangs onto the lip of the monitor, and the arm helps adjust the angle + grip on firmly. It's less firm on a thin monitor. On a thicker monitor (> 1") it holds on better. Read more
