Logitech C505 Webcam 720p HD Webcam with Long-Range mic Renewed

The Logitech C505 web cam I received works perfectly. It is a cheap camera. It is cheap because it has a fixed focus lens and 720p HD resolution rather than 1080p FHD. The camera focuses from about 2 ft to infinity. I have cameras that can be focused to an inch or two or less. This web cam has 1.2 Megapixels (1280 X 960 pixels) in 4:3 aspect ratio. It achieves wide screen format (1280 X 720 pixels) by cutting off 240 rows of pixels leaving 0.9 Megapixels. This is a standard USB camera which means that it works with about a hundred apps in Windows, Linux, Raspberry Pi or whatever. I bought this for my Windows 10 Computer. (I don’t have my Mac set up.) I like Logitech equipment because they produce quality equipment at a reasonable price. I prefer Logitech keyboards, mice and cameras. I wasn't out to buy any high dollar webcam. All I wanted was something that I could use to video chat with my kids & grandchildren, and do some video blogs. Picture is pretty clear. If you download the logitech Camera Control software you can make adjustment to the picture. I also use OBS Studio which has camera adjustment too. The clip works well on all the monitors I've tried it on. My main monitor is a 24" Seiki HD TV. It has a fairly rounded back about 3" wide. Sit's on there just fine. And you can fold the clip up and set the camera on any flat surface. Has a nice long cord too. 7 ft. My tower sits about 4 ft. away from me. I wrap up the rest and tuck it behind my desk. This thing is way better than it has any right to be at the price. Sure, the resolution is not particularly high, but most of the time people are only going to be seeing a little video of you on a screen with multiple others, anyway. It's plug and play on a Windows system and offers good basic control over lighting etc and works well in low light conditions (e.g. most offices) I have multiple devices with higher resolution, fancier software, etc, but this one still does the trick and can be set up on pretty much any system newer than DOS 2.0. Good quality for the price but it does make your face look very zoomed in on MacBook. I ordered a 1080p one from a different brand and the said issue is much better. I’m not sure if this has to do with different resolution, but keep this in mind when ordering. Read more
