We've tried most of the Lundberg Rice. Our favorites are the Jasmine and the Long Grain. We also like the Basmati but I confess I wish it were a longer grain and a bit more fragrant. I still choose it for being an American brand and because the rice is always so clean. There is ONE THING I don't like about Lundberg Rice: the bag. It is overcomplicated and it sucks. It was not meant for people who want a nice user experience of measuring the rice out of the bag, and the opening is constructed for reuse, not for pouring all the rice out into another container. If you want to make your life more easy: cut the whole top of the bag off and pour the rice into an airtight container. It's a shame to waste the reusable velcro opening and I suspect the construction of the bag contributes to the high price. This makes REALLY GOOD SUSHI RICE. Making sushi rice is a different experience than making regular rice so if you are new to it I recommend watching a video and using a recipe until you get the hang of cooking, spreading it out, and seasoning the rice. Net: this is an excellent product. It's a bit expensive so I would only recommend it to smaller households who eat sparingly. I would not recommend this brand to families that eat rice for every meal simply because of the price. Read more

My daughter and I love pizza. We eat vegetarian, so I'm always looking for interesting things to make. Cauliflower pizza crust didn't do much for us, and flour crust was getting boring. Tater tot crust was good, but not very versatile. I forget where I saw this recipe for Sushi rice crust. 2 cups cooked short grain rice 1/2 C cheese of your choice 1 egg (Any seasonings, green onions, etc.) We use vegan cheese and an egg white. I pressed this into my 10 inch cast iron fry pan. I've also used my 12" pizza pan for a thinner crust. I Baked it for 3-4 min at 400 deg. to firm it up. I topped it with some vegan mushroom meatballs and a little mushroom gravy, and heated it all up. Make up your own versions. Anything that goes with rice will taste great with this crust! The secret is to use short grain rice, it holds together better. None in my area. (Thanks Amazon). This rice is tender and delicious. Frankly, I like it better than the long grain. Make sushi if you must, but don't forget how good this is as a pizza crust! Read more

This was my first attempt at making sushi and this rice was recommended by several tutorials I watched or read. It is definitely more work than regular rice but the instructions on the bag work. The rice comes out sticky enough for making sushi. I'm not used to spending $10 on a small bag of rice but I really wanted the sushi to turn out. My grandson has been wanting to learn how to make sushi, so I surprised him with all the necessary items. It was fun and this rice made it a lot easier. I recommend this rice for making sushi. We wanted to make our own sushi rolls - for the first time and it was DELICIOUS!!! I like to eat as organic as possible and this it perfect. Since we have never done sushi before, I was thinking about getting one of these sets, but I am happy I did not. here is a list of what we needed to make our own "healthy" sushi: This is what we got (most of it from Amazon, except the fresh stuff to fill the rolls with: this rice Eden Foods Organic Naturally Brewed Tamari Soy Sauce - add once the rice is boiled Eden Foods Organic Brown Rice Vinegar -- 10 fl oz - add once the rice is boiled Helen Chen's Asian Kitchen Bamboo Sushi Mat with Paddle - use the paddle to mix the rice with the sauce and vinegar + wrap up the bamboo mat in plastic wrap One Organic Sushi Nori Premium Roasted Organic Seaweed - 50 Sheets (4.5 oz) - put half sheet on the mat, spread rice on it add whatever you want in your sushi roll - we add smoked salmon, cream cheese, avocado and cucumber roll it, slice it with a sharp knife dipped in mixture of water and vinegar Kevala Organic Toasted Sesame Seeds - to sprinkle the rolls don't forget also soy sauce for dipping, spicy mayo (yogurt with hot chili sauce) and sticks! I would say that this bag of rice can make you about 4 or 5 sushi dinners for a couple. It takes some time to make - 1 hour for the rice, then some time for the rice to cool down and then about 20 mins to make the rolls. Once the rice is done and cooled down, it is fun to sit together at the table and prepare the rolls. It is a great activity for a date night. Plus the result is extremely delicious!!! Read more
