I've been using both soap racks for several weeks and they have held up perfectly. They are lightweight, but well constructed and I love the look of the wood. However, I am disappointed that both soap racks came individually wrapped in plastic and an unexpected and unnecessary (seemingly) plastic soap saver was included. One of the reasons I chose this product is because it was made of wood rather than plastic. Aesthetically wood looks nicer of course, but I am also steering clear of plastic and unnecessary packaging when I can. Having both soap racks individually wrapped in plastic as well as having the additional unnecessary soap saver was a bit of a let down. I realize now that it is not specifically stated anywhere that the soap racks would come sustainably packaged, however I feel like the images of the product were slightly misleading and the idea of having a natural handcrafted product steered me into thinking sustainability would be considered. The product itself is great and I enjoy using it. I'm slowly recycling my liquid soap bottles as I empty them and will be looking to purchase more soap dishes/racks in the near future. I would like to purchase more of these soap racks since I like the color and construction, however if the packaging remains the same, I will likely try another product instead. I feel the small cardboard box the soap racks were in would probably be enough packaging, however if them rattling around is a concern, perhaps wrapping them in a cut of recycled paper or using some crumpled/shredded recycled paper as padding would suffice. It looks great and serves it's purpose well. But don't expect a well built product. One of mine arrived with the end cross section loose and bent due to pitting in the wood. They're held together with tacks and glue, which is fine. But the construction is sloppy and there's dried glue all over every joint underneath. They're not terrible, I might even buy them again. But I don't expect them to last long enough to pass down to the grandkids. Read more
